1:24 kills me every time, because the original version of this number on the show he NEVER would have stood like that, but he’s so used to Shakespeare he’s like “this is how you take center, right?”
@AnntheTheatreFan6 ай бұрын
Let's be honest. We may admire high belts and dramatic ballads, but these are the kind of numbers that we truly LOVE. And incredible professionalism of course. Even for 'Ha ha' he didn't break the character and continued like it was all part of the plan😂 It's the best things in theatre when sometimes goes wrong and performers improvise like it's nothing.

One thing i noticed is that one of the dancers adapted to the change in lyrics "can someone FIND my damn cigar" and he frantically checks himself for it THAT IS GOOD IMPROV ACTING it shows attention to detail when the spotlight isnt on them and i find that amazing
@Masonj919Ай бұрын
It wasn’t just one of the dancers and they weren’t adapting or improvising. The choreography has them looking for lighters. Why would they be checking themselves for his cigar?

Okay while we all love this performance, we can all admit this felt WAYYY less energetic than the original version. Maybe he had done this for multiple days in a row and he was tired today but while the ensemble felt entirely choreographed and excited, Christian looked like he just wanted to go home 😭
@bellarose5978Ай бұрын
it was the day after he won his second Tony. He was running on chugging coffee to deal with the hangover and lack of sleep. In the zoom reunion a few years later he described this concert as a 'one of the most happy and sureal moments of his life with everything coming together and a 'very beautiful, very difficult long day.'' He looks like he might pass out during some of the finale.

@tori2dles2 жыл бұрын
It was. It was in NBC and detailed the lives of writers, actors, dancers, producers, financiers, etc., of Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. It had an ensemble cast to die for, including the above Mr. Borle. The initial vehicle for production was an imaginary show entitled “Bombshell,” a musical biography of Marilyn Monroe. The two main (& at times rivaling) actresses vying for the spot were Megan Hilty and Katherine McPhee. Anyhow, if you get a chance, WATCH! It only had two seasons, but it was phenomenal. It’s on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
@fromthehaven942 жыл бұрын
Slightly better than a certain show about some high school glee club which was basically a jukebox musical. What was the name of it...?
@RianeBane2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the premise was that the characters are all involved in putting together a new musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe. Christian Borle's character, Tom Levitt, was the musical's composer, and Debra Messing played his partner, Julia Houston, who wrote the book and lyrics. The show went through the musical's production process from workshop to Broadway. There was a lot of really good original music throughout the show. This particular scene is one they "produced" for the musical, and is supposed to be one of the studio executives meeting with his employees (in a steam room, apparently as some kind of power play)
@axelkyster2642 Жыл бұрын

A short lived TV show from about 12 years ago. It was lively and fun drawing in a diverse audience because the show had something for everybody. It's a shame how the show wasn't given a good chance or moved to another network or cable to keep it going. I never until now saw anything about it again after it was removed. This scene with the good looking guys dancing/singing in boxers was a SMASH...that's also the title of that great jewel of a show.

This actually from 'Bombshell the Musical'. After Smash ended, they produced the musical created in the TV series.
