I genuinely have to believe that the dislikes this video is receiving is from the Devs and their friends/family. The review is honest, it showcases the VST, and it saved me at most $189, and at least 3 hours of playing with all of the presets only to be disappointed with my wasted time. Adding another "like" for you, good sir!

As a synthesizer developer, I can confirm that "AI-powered synthesis" is a blatant lie, used to trick new producers into handing over their money for a garbage synthesizer. It's very common for these companies to take advantage of newer producers by advertising their products as far better than they really are (e.g. plenty of painfully basic $400 EQs out there). Thank you for the video spreading awareness of this.

atom is actually a very versatile synth, the samples are designed for pop culture, vintage, emphasized electrick music. as for the ai, it clearly explains that it runs emastered in the synth itself, which i guess in that case it always runs in the background in real time. the only feature that does not seem to serve a known reason is the visual waveform/spectral window thing that takes up half the top screen..

You can see that all their money went into those stupid youtube adds and the big names being involved, instead of some proper coding. I'm 2 years into my 5 year audio engineering/programming colledge, and I know perfectly well how to combat aliasing when designing my synths. The presets are great because they perfectly demonstrate the sonic capabilities of this plugin. I've had a better listening experience while getting an earwax removal. Why wouldn't they just shove some basic wavetables in there with some "pretty graphics" to pretend it's AI morphing between sounds? They probably couldn't even program those...
@2011littleguy5 жыл бұрын
I remember in the eighties, that Kurzweil electric piano used the term, A.I. I like Kurzweil products, and owned their K2500 piano module, but A.I. ? I guess anyone is free to use that term. For instance, I wrote this comment using Artificial Intelligence! "Good day, gentlemen. I am a HAL9000 computer. And I won't open the pod bay doors!" After listening to the sounds you played in your review, it's like they took a Casio portable keyboard and added knobs to change the wave shape. The basic sounds are thin. Is it possible that people in the music biz would sell out? Hmmm. They must know that calling this software A.I. is... as the Secretary of Defense said in the movie Independence Day, "uhh... that's not entirely true". A.I. means that a computer LEARNS over time and reprograms itself. It uses recursive iteration, meaning that it runs through millions of simulations and finds the ones that best meet the programmed goal. The software actually changes in an evolutionary way. That's just how we humans learn. So I ask a basic question: Does this software alter its programming? Do sounds evolve over time? If not. then A.I. in advertising is just hype. Maybe it's natural selection at work here after all: people who buy this software will not make great music and will not rise in the industry. Maybe the whole Darwinian idea works in this case lol.
@msld_sound5 жыл бұрын
Lots of good ideas here. I suspect "natural selection" may indeed weed out ATOM users. 😬
