Im playing volleyball today, gonna try your tips, im not that good of a spiker, 2/5 hits are descent. Who else plays volleyball here and watches Elevate yourself videos? And why are all asians so good in volleyball, I live in Norway and half of the people there are asian and they are really crazy good :D love to play with them
@joki63957 жыл бұрын
well it went so-so today, the sets I was given was really poor, when I got a good set my spike was really weak, and most of the asians wasnt there :(

Changing the direction (angle) of my hand and how it is hitting the ball seems to help more then let the arm follow through to somewhere. In our last set on our friday training i scored 9 of the 25 points with that tip i saw here. In the first set i only did 4 sucessfull spikes with my normal technique cause many others have been dug by the defenders. Thank you very much for that helpfull tip with the hand direction. I'll practice that in the future. ^^
@darylldumo757 жыл бұрын
now that you've mentioned it, i noticed during practice that every time i hit a powerful spike the opponents were able to dig it. Thanks
@chengsterboi077 жыл бұрын
nice tip, but what i have noticed from other players who swing in opposite direction usually over throw their shoulders. it is best to swing faster so the blockers won't get there. hand positions is also good.

Hello Coach Donny, would you do a "Tip Video" for middle blockers in order to play against experienced and fast setters? Going from mid to any of the outsides and get more blocks. Reading through quick sets and so on... Thanks :)

Helped me get alot more kills in my past two games this week, won one but lost one yesterday. I got a nice kill in the third set (tie breaker for JV) that used the same technique as shown in the video which got us on a run to win it out Tuesday.

Coach Donny. Great tactical tip. One suggestion: show some exercises without weights and weights for rotor cuff strength and stability coming up players. I'm as old as gold vball. Use 5lbs or what's easy to hold free weight in hand and do bucket drops each hand 10-15 reps 3 sets. Anyone knows bucket drops!.

@DJoquer77 жыл бұрын
Excellent spikes, I have a question at the moment we are participating in an amateur league and in the last match the referee told me that I could not spike after the line of three meters with me in position 1 or 5 (defense). I told him that if I could as long as I did not step on the line of 3 meters, so I decided to leave the left side line and re-enter ahead of the line of 3 meters and do the shot and still told me that It was not possible. But it's something that you do all the time in your matches coach Donny ...

Hey, Donnie, I have been watching your spiking videos, and I noticed you only talked about the 3 step approach. I didn't make the volleyball team in my high school sadly, but the coach first showed us the 4 step approach and didn't say anything about the 3 step approach for the remainder of the tryouts, but I think it might have been because other players already knew about it. I wanted to know what is your advice between the 4 step approach and 3 step approach?

Hi Coach! I'm a 14 year old and I'm 150 cm tall or 4'10' - 4'11". (Very short) So far in middle school I have played back receiver, setter, and wing spiker. But at this time I was not playing for the school team, instead it was for fun. Considering my height, I was guessing that I would not be able to play wing spiker in high school. I have watched your tutorials on how to improve my jump and it has really helped and I can get higher than before to spike over a highschool net. My first question is should I be able to see right over then net when I'm spiking? And my second question is, do you think, considering my height, I will be able to play as a wing spiker in high school? If not what position would be best for someone my height? Thank you for all the help! Please Respond!!
@Song_Jang_Mi7 жыл бұрын
Marisa A. Yes you can. Height doesn't matter. It may give you an advantage but being short doesn't get in the way at all. Check some video's. There are a lot of awesome spikers who are like really short. And BTW I'm sure you'll still grow. I'm a 16 (girl) and I'm still growing while I'm like 171 cm tall. You can do it!😁💪✌

Hey Coach, was wondering if you had any tips on digging spikes that are coming higher or at your face. I get freaked out everytime I play back row because I'm afraid a spike will come directly at me. It's happened a few times before and it always hits uncomfortably on my arms/shoulders, or I have to turn my face so I don't break my nose.
@vinht237 жыл бұрын
The key is to keep your hands to your side between your shoulder and hips. This will give you better reaction time to put your hand together if the hit goes high towards your face. Most people keep their hands too low.

@xcver7 жыл бұрын
curious but to me it looks as if in your second example the attacker was explicitly not spiking where he was facing. He was facing towards position 6 and ultimately rotated to spike line. The defender was there because that is the position he needs to be at with a diagonal block. I am pretty sure he did not read that the spike would go there which is most likely why he was standing on his defensive position already when the serve was done on his side (he basically did not move). Still it is a good idea to be not to transparent when spiking :)

Yup definitely agree there. I'm an ok spiker with 1.84m and an average jump, and one of the best hitters in my team is 1.75m but he's fucking flying on the court. Not a great blocker tho because he can't build up speed to jump higher.
