Can concur, pretty sure the season I've most often died in is Summer. You'd think Winter would be the season of Base Babysitting, up until you start needing to maintain 5+ ice flingomatics or be trapped in one spot so that everything doesn't burn for 10 straight days

@@RickDaily12 Your camp is only at risk of burning down if you're near it. So, during the day, you should spend your time away from your camp. When you are at camp, an Ice Flingomatic can be great, but so long as you carefully watch out for anything smoldering, you can usually extinguish it before it actually combusts. I typically just use the Ice Flingomatic on my farms to make sure the crops don't wilt in the heat. That's one good thing about Summer, at least you can grow crops so long as you have the Ice Flingomatic. Growing crops in Winter is impossible, which can limit your food options. If it wasn't for the whole "everything might burst into flames" thing, I'd actually like Summer more than Winter.

I can't be the only person who thinks spring is worse than winter. If you didn't manage to get the eyebrella before spring, your sanity depletes so fast, and even if you did, you'll have to deal with aggressive beefalo, bees, and no rabbits for food. Most of the time, the days of spring are shorter than winter too. Spring's Moose/Goose is also a tiny bit harder (and a lot more useless in terms of drops) compared to Winter's Deerclops Compared to winter, you can just light the occasional grass or tree on fire for a quick warmth. Excluding Mactusk, and slow growing berries, that's pretty much the only cons to winter.

I think spring is almost better than autumn, because crops grow like crazy, you get down feathers: for the luxury fan, possibly the best summer item, and rain gear is insanely easy to craft. rain hat: 1 straw hat (lots of grass during spring), 2 bone shards, and 2 moleworms (hit with hammer). Rain coat is 2 bone shards, 2 rope, and 2 tentacle spots, all pretty easy to get.

Summer's difficulty largely stems from the fact that it is arguably the season that requires the most prep work. You want to have endothermic fires (which means you need to have not ignored the previously useless Nitre), you need to have Ice Flingomatics, and you should have the Eyebrella from Deerclops's eye, and Iceboxes. If you don't have these things, Summer is going to be rough, but not impossible. Make a floral shirt, a straw hat (if you don't have the Eyebrella), and put a couple of Thermal Stones in the ice box to chill them. If you were able to make Ice Flingomatics, put one by your farm so your crops don't wilt in the heat. Farming is impossible in Summer without the Flingomatic, so if you weren't able to craft some, you're stuck to hunting. The biggest thing you need to worry about is your base going up in flames. If you don't have any Flingomatics, you might be better off making a small secondary base away from your main base. Only things in your immediate vicinity catch on fire, so staying away from your base will help ensure it stays standing. Otherwise, just keep an eye on things smoldering and extinguish them. You'll lose a small bit of health, but it's no big deal. Dragonfly is another problem. She's the toughest boss in the game because you can't kite her like other bosses, you're set on fire by being near her, and she has a huge AOE attack. Best way to deal with her is to put her to sleep and drop a stack of 14 gunpowder near her and ignite it. The blast will instantly kill her and, because she's fire proof, her loot she drops won't burn. You can put her to sleep with a panflute or, barring that, drop 20 ashes and she'll fall asleep after eating them.

+Austin Clay I found out today this morning wether he spawns without an arena or not... he does, he was so close to my base that I had to lead him away just to try and fight him but my armor was broken and I was barley able to out run him, but I got to the swamp and found a tenticle to occupie him while I ran. I came back the next day with new armor, magic weapons, and a fist full of gears (I'm wx-78 by the bay), but he must have de-spawned because I looked all around that swamp but I never found him.

I think the reason most people find Summer so difficult in this game is due to the somewhat counter intuitive way you combat it. Everyone understands the concept of surviving Winter. If you're cold, you build a fire. But what on earth do you do if you're too hot? Eat Ice? Stand under a tree? Neither of those help very much as the season progresses with the tree one ceasing to work at all later on. You need Endothermic Fire which needs the more rare and non-renewable Nitre which, aside from Gunpowder, is relatively useless in single player Don't Starve until Summer comes around. So the heat challenge of Summer typically catches new players way off guard. Not to mention the risk of everything bursting into flame. Once you've gotten experienced at this game, Summer is actually a pretty chill season, all things considered. If you made your camp at a Rocky Biome, you don't have to worry about forest fires erupting nearby and your Ice Flingomatics will protect your base from combusting. In addition, with the further aid of the Flingomatics, farming is an option in Summer, unlike Winter where your food options are more limited, forcing you to hunt. Even Dragonfly can be easily dispatched with a Panflute and 14 gunpowder (in Singleplayer, at least). And because Dragonfly is fireproof, the Gunpowder won't even damage the loot she drops like it normally would.
