i LOVE seeing people pick up this game! its always a treat to revisit, something that may help: There are 3 types of mushrooms which can be picked at certain types of day, two which are good for health/sanity! Green caps come out during dusk which when cooked gives 15 sanity at the cost of 1 hp, Blue caps come out at night and when eaten raw, gives 20 hp at the cost of 15 sanity. Red mushrooms harm more than help raw or cooked unless used in a crock pot as filler, so avoid those

As a veteran player of over 2k hours I have a few bits of advice to give. One thing I always do in DST is gather seeds as I go along. They last for AGES, are a great emergency food source and give 1 HP when toasted over a fire. Unless you're Wigfrid or Warly then you will be a bit boned. They are also very hand for when you begin farming and are needed when crafting a Birdcage too in order to make eggs once a bird is inside. Another thing I do is catch butterflies with a bug net (2 silk, 2 twigs to craft) and then plant them near my base.(hold them in you mouse and hover over any suitable terrain) The flowers will spawn butterflies which can be killed by using CTRL+F (force attack, unless you tinkered with your keybindings then you're on your own for that one) and then the wings can be used as filler in the crockpot (1 meat+ 3 wings=a meatball meal :9 ) or eaten raw for some hunger and 8HP while still fresh. They are the healing potato chip of Don't Starve! If you find three red caps and place them near a gobbler the greedy bird will eat himself to death. It's hilarious to see. Red caps are toxic and will dock you 20 HP if eaten raw and Gobblers have a max of 50 HP. So I nicknamed the Red Cap as "Gobbler Bait" Lastly you will want to pre-craft an Endothermic fire and Endothermic firepit BUT DO NOT PLACE IT. (make it then right click as opposed to left clicking which will place it. the tab will then glow blue and you can then place it wherever you want later, free of charge) It will be a real life saver for when summers deadly daytime heat rolls in and you get stranded in the middle of nowhere without a single bit of nitre to your name or a even tree to give you shade. Doing the same thing for campfires and firepits will also be handy for the bitter cold of Winter When things stop growing back and grass and twigs becomes scarce unless you have proper farms set up or are basing in Dragonfly Desert with tumbleweeds galore. I hope my tips have helped you for your next game. This game has a *MASSIVE* learning curve but once you clear that hurdle and survive a full year without dying and stop being scared of the world, you will have officially won the game.

@clubsandwich5592 жыл бұрын
I’m sure this has been suggested already, but the trick to combat in dst is trying to figure out how much time there is between an enemy’s attacks and trying to get your own hits in in between.
@TheRedarm752 жыл бұрын
some basic first start info, you can sacrifice 40 hp, some grass, a spider's gland to make a "telltale heart" under the Hp crafting tab to let you revive the crocpot is a very important structure under the cooking tab as most food prepared in it gives hp or sanity (depends on exact meal made) Frogs will instantly die from grass traps (you can pick em up when they are empty they only lose durability when they atempt to catch) mandrake are super limited 3-5 per world, they can be used in magic crafting to make panflute which puts all monster/bosses to sleep on screen or tossed raw into crocpot for mandrake soup with anything *3 twigs* for a heavy stat recovery dish
@The-Determined-Ninja2 жыл бұрын
*_Charlie_* claiming not to know how to survive in her own domainー? Now that's something. ( ´◡‿◡`) Jokes aside, seeing new players being confused as ever as to how to play the game is always something. My best most _broad_ advice I can give is to examine anything you don't understand, in hopes of a hint about it, and to look carefully through the crafting tabs in case you want *anything.* It should be _especially_ easy now thanks to the new arrangement it got recently. I do hope that helps.

I as a DST player can give you some tips: 1 setting a campfire day 1 is kinda lame and you're better off using a torch or Willow's lighter, because Willow's lighter provides light. 2 Grass suits are bad, wooden armor or football helmets are better armor, i mostly recomend backpack + football helmet. 3 DST combat relies heavily in dodging, you have to hit x creature x ammount of times then dodge by going backwards (you can attack any agressive creature with F) 4 kill butterflies (ctrl + F to hit any non-harmful mob) 5 sanity creatures have to be killed, once you kill one you get sanity back and nightmare fuel. 6 Spiders can be befriended by Webber by giving them any sort of meat, friending a spider gives Webber some sanity. 7 walls are kinda useless.

I love watching you two figure this game out! My favorite thing about don't starve and dst is that every attempt you learn something new; you're MEANT to die over and over as you figure things out and so you genuinely feel accomplished the further you get. Also a favorite story I forgot to add: my very first winter I got a Deerclops, and I didn't want it to destroy my camp, so I kited it away to try and kill it. It was getting dark. So I wound up SETTING THE DEERCLOPS ON FIRE and just running around it all night and somehow I survived. This game is insane.

DST learning curve to the first year(75 days) is Brutal to say the least. if you guys need here some non specific tips. -Even on the Endless mode don't feel guilty for abandoning a world and starting anew if you fell locked its a game about PREparation, but you only will know what you need be prepared for after failing to that. -Everything can, wish and probably will kill you soner or later. Even butterflies have a hidden mechanic that you could play years without knowing about (because is hard to achieve without intention) that can cause your death -Walls suck, hordes easily demolish then, am bosses trample over then. they are used mostly to control the pathfinding so you are not safe inside they -KITE! in this game tanking the damage is very inefective, only 1~2 characters can do it effectively and even to her will be better kiting sometimes. no mob can be stun locked but the overwhelming majority of then have a set pattern where you can hit then and always get out of their range(example:2 hits, fall back, 2 hits again -----some can be generous to allow up to 6 hits) -not everything that you can swollen will be good for you. slate or spoiled food will give reduced food values and negative sanity and sometimes even negative heath, same for some uncocked food. -mushrooms are complicate. they have crazy values on sanity and health and cooking then sometimes makes something completely different.so is better stay out of then unless that you already know what they do. as example one of then raw drops you sanity by 50(half weber max bar) and the same one gives +15 of health -3 healt when cooked
