There’s another version of this song on this channel performed by different musicians that does a magnificent job on this song, and listening to the two back to back is genuinely like night and day. The lead violinist gives a wonderful performance here, but by a third of the way through the song something in the execution of the other performers creates a dissonant wall of noise that’s almost unlistenable. It’s not at all pleasant to the ear, and it’s missing something special that the other video’s musicians managed to capture seemingly effortlessly. I noticed it in this group’s changes cover as well. There’s a lack of musicality and cohesion, and it’s palpably awkward. Not every quartet has that perfect chemistry, and while the ladies definitely had it these four don’t seem to.
