But Lin WanEr is his love? She stood by him through everything. There's no reason he would change heart, that would ruin his character. If they kill off WanEr just make a different pairing then that's worse. ML was adamant from the start he's onlh wish in life was to go away with WanEr, that was why he was trying to cure her. To have him go through everything then kill off the love of his life is a cruel fate.
