I have seen this gentleman play many, many times. He never ceased to impress. I once traded tickets to a World Series game in Philadelphia for tickets to see him. The Phillies lost that night, but I won.

You dont go to a Ramlin' Jack show to see a perfect rendition of a Dylan song -- you go to see a legend exist. And he continues to exist well.

Something about the way he starts fingerpicking the song, slower than how most do it, then just moans that first line; almost makes me fucking cry every time. What a storyteller and what a blessing from the heaven's that we get to sit here and watch.

Bob Dylan has probably been the most influential man in my life. I'm 76 now and first heard him in '63 on Freewheelin'. I was a 15 year old kid growing up in London's West End..When I heard that album I felt that I wasn't alone. My favourite song from that album was Don't think twice it's all right and it's actually stayed as my favourite song even though I've enjoyed and been inspired by just about everything he's sung since then. Rambling Jack's performance here somehow has had the same effect on me that Bob's had all those many, many years ago.

Ramblin Jack is one of the true originals..who was a good friend of Woody Guthrie and they were performing together and apart 15 years or More before before Bob Dylan came along playing the same kind of music..it just proves that folk & country blues is timeless

Saw Jack at the Town Hall in Birmingham England back in the 60s when he was a young man. He came over here with Buffy Saint Marie and a few other American Blues greats. He came on stage with his leg in plaster because he had fractured a bone in his leg but he put on a great show . Nice to see him still going.

Ramblin' Jack is known for giving his audience the full ramble, and his concerts are 1/2 history (or legend) rap punctuated by his own uniquely soulful renditions of classic songs. He's like a glass of Lagavulin--an acquired taste that you can't help but love.

Hey it's a free world on this side of the divide.Jack has gone down so many less travelled roads with his fellow bardsters. All folk trails led to the village in NYC.So he was captured on tape then by vynl.A legend & icon like Woody & Cisco.I appreciate what these guys have done in their music to keep alive what they have written and others have too.The blues is an altogether different story but came entwined with folk down the road.Peter behind my Judy

I haven't heard/seen Ramblin' Jack in some years, good to see that he's still kicking about. The man has history, I remember seeing him years ago on the Johnny Cash show when he was a hell of a lot younger (weren't we all?) LOL his "monologue" at the beginning is what got him his name "Ramblin' Jack" 'cause when he got to talkin' he could rattle on...I saw him at Albion College and Michigan State back in the 60's Not too long a time and we won't have any of those guys from that era...

I am a big fan of Kris Kristofferson, and he sang a song that was "owed to John Prine" and Kris remarked what a good song writer and performer John was, and I was curious to hear him. That was in 1972, and I bought his first album, and then I was a big fan of Kris and John. Kris did a number of concerts in Toronto, and I was at all of them, and other venues one being Mississauga 20 miles from T.O. at a club. John's first concert was at Massey Hall, and I had front row seats in the balcony, and man, the dope fumes made it to the balcony and it was easy to get a light BUZZ going. An awesome concert and John returned at least 5 times to do his concert outdoors at Ontario Place on a rotating stage. The Canadian people discovered a new singing star and turned out to every concert from then on . I completed my hose interior listening to Kris and John on vinyl and have all the albums to this day. They are my repair crew and help a great deal, since 1971 with Kris, then John, and Kris and John.

She died, you know! Bob Dylan's girlfriend about which this song was written. I like the Ramblin Jack's version best. He really understands music and knows how to build the song and get us listening for the musical poetry! If you're an artist or musician, you know what I'm talking about! The story Jack tells is humorous, entertaining and gives us a little more than just playing the song. We want to know the associations between these performers and how they regard one another!

Jack Elliott is the greatest interpreter of folk songs, particularly those of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. He also defined a particular flat picking style of guitar playing (interestingly not used in this song). I like Ramblin' Jack's version of this song better than Dylan's too, but Dylan was the master song writer.

I always wondered which was written first Don't Think Twice or Understand Your Man. They are the exact same chord changes all the way through. I know Dylan borrowed a lot of melodies over the years, actually Don't Think Twice was borrowed from an obscure folk song by Paul Clayton called Who's Gonna Buy You Ribbons When I'm Gone.
