Don't throw away your favorite turtleneck because of a sagging collar. It's very easy to change it

A turtleneck or high-neck sweater is one of the most versatile items in your wardrobe. But the collar may put pressure on your neck or you just don’t like it. I had a good turtleneck, but after several washes the collar fell off and began to bunch up. I then remade it and made a stand.
This is not at all difficult to do. The main feature of the turtleneck is the cylindrical collar, so when altering it you just need to reduce it in length.
You can use 2 methods:
Straighten the collar and mark how much to cut. If the new collar is 4 cm high, then you need to leave 8 cm and cut off the excess length, then overcast the seam. Fold the collar inward and sew it on by hand.
You need to sew so that the seam is elastic and the finished head fits into the collar.
I like the second method better, look how I did it:
- I completely cut off the raven from the neck. The depth at the front was not much deeper than at the back. Therefore, I deepened the cutout on the shelf by another 4 cm.
- I cut off 8 cm on the collar.
It turned out to be a separate detail. Which I folded in half.
I made 4 marks at the same distance.
I also divided the neck of the sweater into 4 equal parts. I connected the marks and placed the seam on the stand at the point of the shoulder seam.
I will do the stitching on a sewing machine. Due to the fact that I had to stretch the stand well, the finished collar turned out to be well stretchable.
I sewed the edge of the seam with a zigzag. I pressed the new collar in a circle, stretching it around the seam.
As a result of the work done, the collar remained the same width, but became double and shorter. And the product itself took on a completely different look.
You can sew a headband from the cut-off part of the collar; to do this, you need to fold it in half, stitch in a circle, leaving room for turning it inside out. Then turn it right side out and sew the hole by hand with a blind stitch.
