What?! 😲 I hate when people say stuff like this. I got food poisoning from undercooked fresh pasta in a cooking class I worked at and one of my coworkers said, "Oh, you must not have a very strong stomach, then." I was thinking, _B!tch, that's not how bacteria works!_ Unscientific opinions abound about very real and well-researched phenomena, usually related to chemicals and bacteria. A cousin of mine had alopecia for the longest time, not knowing to wash new clothes before the first wear. Is she a "sissy" for needing to wash the chemical finishers off her clothes? 😂

@450isnifty5
@450isnifty5 Жыл бұрын
@@heathers1931 the underarm odor is probabaly because 2 things also, some deotorant has aluminum and when you sweat it out it gets caught in the clothing and keeps the odor trapped in. I learned the hard way when I started using antiperspirant deotorant instead of my usual aluminum free. To fix it turn all of your shirts inside out mix a spray bottle with half distilled white viniger and half warm water and spray it onto the underarms of your shirts or where odor is . Let it soak for 30 minutes then do a normal cycle also if you have an he machine they clean clothes terribly and barley even wet them so add a couple gallons of water to your clothing and soak them before you start a cycle and it will add more water to the cycle and clean better . Make sure you pore the water in the clothing slowley otherwise before the cycle starts it will drain all of the water then weigh the clothes

I also use white vinegar in my wash, cleans, brightens,deodorizes, makes clothes nice and soft. Little bit goes a long and if any lingering scent is there when you open the washer, it will dissipate while drying. I use white vinegar in place of bleach and fabric softener. 1 gallon costs a hell of a lot less than fabric softener or bleach. Also a great natural way to clean around the house (that actually works and you’re not paying for a “green” name.

My mom never used it while I grew up, when I moved out my boyfriends mom bought it for me to use because she would use it. OMG. Every single thing that touched me made me itch like crazy. I hated it so much and I don’t even have sensitive skin. I stopped using it immediately and after some research starting buying white vinegar and it is truly a game changer i use it in all types of wash loads, it whitens my whites like no other (bleach I rarely use now), it fluffs my towels and I use it in the dishwasher as a rinse aid, I use it on white clothes to spot treat any stains or yellowing, I use it in the sink to deodorize, I pour it in a sponge wand add dish soap and hot water and use it on my glass shower doors, and I mix it with dish soap and water to make a DIY countertop spray. I saved so much $$$ considering EBT covers white vinegar! *edit* Some more tips! You can also descale your kettle by pouring white vinegar in it and boiling, white vinegar poured in a bowl placed in your car/ a room will absorb odors, and I microwave white vinegar in a bowl to loosen all the gunk in the microwave before wiping it away easily. I would love to know if anyone else has any pro tips to add on below :)

The problem isn't fabric softener itself; it's that many people are using it wrong. You can't just dump it into those agitator dispensers, you have to shake the bottle before pouring, and you have to dilute the measured out softener with hot water. Otherwise, the lipids that actually do the softening will come out of solution and stay in the dispenser. (Unless you're using a front loader, in which case the dispenser will dilute the softener itself)

As a maintenance tech I can say for sure fabric softeners are bad for your machine and clothes. Especially if you use too much. One table spoon, 2 at max for a full load if you insist on using that artificial liquid wax. Use white vinegar. One cup, 2 at max for a bulky/over filled load. It will actually soften your clothes, it will sanitize them and it removes bad odors. You can also put it into the bleach spot that says bleach only. Sure it's a little more expensive in the long run but you don't need it every load and it works much better. If you are worried about the smell sticking to your clothes, don't worry. You might smell it faintly when close by while the machine is running if you have a top load washer but it will not stick to the clothes. Please do not use that liquid wax. It will do more harm that good.

It's because people overuse fabric softener... You only have to use fabric softener on your clothes twice a month it does not wash off your clothes in the washer.... So say you wash a load of clothes today with fabric softener. Then you're supposed to use it again the following month. And you should use unconcentrated fabric softener like snuggle.... Downy fabric softener is too concentrated... Tied in Downey are the two worst detergents..... They can clog washer machines and they can seep into the pores of your skin

Fabric softner isnt usually a bad thing, its just that people overuse softner and soap. Tid bit for anyone reading this, the jugs of detergent you get tell you to basically fill up the entire cap. This is overexcessive and they tell you to use that much so you go through it faster, so you can run to the store and buy more. A tablespoon is usually good enough for the average load since most the time you wash its more so to freshen up clothes than them needing a deep clean

Ok this is coming from someone legit in the laundry field....if you are not going to use fabric softener USE LESS SOAP!! softener isn't just for clothes and scent it helps cut down soap suds as well. Take what you hear from this one video and one machine with a grain of salt, I use the downy softener release ball for all my loads and never have an issue with buildup. People please remember these videos are for views and likes so they will exaggerate alot of information. That one washer must've seen years of people adding way too much product into it. I will forever and always use fabric softener.

This is especially important if you work with anything that is flammable or can start a fire. If you wash your clothes with fabric softener and you catch fire, you will burn easily. This is because it puts a waxy residue on your clothes and turns you into a human candle. Your clothes can melt on to your skin as well vs burning up/off. Also it decreases the absorption of your towels, cloth diapers, and wash rags

Fun fact. Vinegar removes water deposits and rust from your machine. It also removes water deposits from your clothes, makes them soft and aids in cleaning. Vinegar is 5% acetic acid, and it won’t hurt rubber. I run a detailing shop. My microfibres are far dirtier than clothes. They last 100-300 wash cycles. Vinegar is key

@@rem520 I'll say my clothes were softer and there was no static however this could also be because my clothes are mostly natural fibres so I can't say if it's going to be same for artificial fibers. I actually often use a tiny amount of fabric softener mixed with vinegar. I find that vinegar alone sometimes leaves some scent behind, but this prevents it. It also helps prevent mold from forming in the machine. Just don't use any fabric softener with any "fibrous" fabrics such as towels, fleece, microfiber, plush etc. That will "clog" and ruin them, use pure vinegar instead as it helps to get rid of any detergent residue and buildup. Also if you want to keep your towels and blankets soft and fluffy, run them shortly in a dryer on a warm quick cycle and allow the rest to air dry. They need to be fluffied up by the dryer but excess heat will make them harder.
