See, this is the kind of tutorial video I need. No transitions between the person and the canvas, no voiceover or anything else. Just the unfiltered painting process and some notes explaining the process. A blessing this video is.

Personally I like voiceover cause I absorb better the info when I’m doodling along, just watching it is a guaranteed 3-4 watches til I actually get the info 😢(ADHD gang rise up)

Seeing you draw Genshin characters like this makes me realise just how many details they have in their designs. I love Genshin and adore the character designs but they are quite intimidating so I haven't drawn anyone from there yet but hopefully I will sometime in the future. I love your videos, keep up the awesome drawings!!

This is so good!!!the rendering on the metal parts is just so amazing and at the background part you said you were having trouble fitting the character into the bg so if you want to draw bg again I would say draw bg first then it will be easier to make the character blend into the bg but ngl I like your drawing against black background that you normally do because of you I started putting my drawings against black bg idk black bg just slaps😅
@kurohshiro
@kurohshiro 11 ай бұрын
Oh yes! Definitely. To be honest I always think the character is the most important part in my art, so I draw them first. But ofc this makes it harder to fit into the background later. It's a brilliant tip to draw plan background and character at the same time and work simultaneously on them. Thanks a lot for your feedback :3
@colzy6241
@colzy6241 11 ай бұрын
@@kurohshiroWhat I always do, is: sketch the character with base colours, draw the background or at least the basic colours and shapes to know what light will bounce off and shadows will form on the character later on and then proceed with the character.
@QuillColor
@QuillColor 7 ай бұрын
Oh! This is my method I arrived at after about 14 years and also getting sick of lineart's difficulties to edit shapes after most of the color and rendering was done.. Ive never seen such a high level execution shared this way, thank you!. It takes long, but its much more flexible in subtle adjustments and really improves your palette condition fast.

This was such a good illustration, I had not even noticed that there was no lineart! It's so impressive how many methods you have for creating art, this may give me the courage to try something risky and new whenever something isn't working. Thank you as always for your helpful videos! ☺

That's a wonderful mindset! Sometimes art can be really frustrating. Either I drop a piece before I go insane and move on to a new one (that's why I always work on several pieces at the same time) or I try something entirely out of my comfort zone like in this one: a background and no lineart haha

this was pretty interesting to watch, was originally planning to watch while I worked on my own fanart, but ended up stopping and watching the whole thing. I first started out watching mikeymegamega's tutorial on making digital art, and I had a layer for everything, but then I got tired of having so many layers and decided to try just using 1 layer. It frees me from having to keep finding the layer that I'm supposed to be on, but then also kinda prevents me from modifying only the parts I want to modify, so I guess having some layers is the way to go

Skipping the lineart in this method is something you can do when you're more experienced and confident about rendering shapes and shadows. It can sometimes be faster and feels more organic, though it's certainly one of those 'learn the rules before you break them' sort of techniques.

You could even skip the second sketch to save more time. A lot of artists i have seen that need to be quick go straight to the final piece from rough sketch. even seen some draw the final piece right away. It's all in what you are comfortable with. I've always been partial to going straight to the final piece after doing a quick rough draft on another page just to save time and not be stuck to the rough i had made.

AAAAA this is so good! Will you ever make a tutorial on how you draw bodies?

I generally don’t do lineart unless it’s a specific look that I’m wanting. I find that everything ends up more organic that way, AND it takes a lot less time.

I wish I had even an ounce of your patience 😅 I never even get to rendering stage 99% of the time because I get tired of working on something and move on to sketch something else. So shading/rendering has become harder and harder when I do get around to trying it... which makes me not want to do it even more 🤣 vicious cycle!!

Actually I am facing the same issue right now. I am hoarding wips which are all in the sketch stage and it's annoying me. I guess when I really really like a sketch I push myself to continue. And when this method without lineart is too overwhelming then I ink it. It's like an in between step i take to keep myself motivated. Wishing you all the best for your art :)

That's amazing to hear! My process is pretty repetitive throughout the pieces I am doing, but I think showing it over and over again and explaining my methods may be helpful. So thanks for your comment :3

hi! amazing as always Kuro! i really appreciate these art tutorials on top of your amazing art style ^^. I have a question, could you please make a similar tutorial but for procreate? it's the only app i have right now and it s a bit hard to follow clip studio tutorials on procreate, since the tools seem so different T T thank you!!
@kurohshiro
@kurohshiro 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! Actually I am using procreate only for making sketches because I can't wrap my head around the hand pen coordination and making it work like I used to work. I will think of it, but honestly I haven't figured out a process I am happy with yet ^^'

It's terrifying to watch how easy it looks to draw, but one I take my stylus it looks like a stickman😭😭 On another note, I would really like to see a video on clothing and shading, and please tell me if you already have one!❤️‍🔥
