Linux Mint is probably the best Distro for beginners hands down. These days I may run Arch on my main rig but on my laptop, Mint or Fedora works perfectly fine for what I need it for.

Most linux distros have far better and modern ui than windows, and linux kernal get 100X security reviews and updates on daily basis than mac and windows combined, as it target high security servers & super computers.. almost 1000 companies update the code everyday, like 10k lines added daily and 5k updated... if any software that is most stable and modern, it's the linux kernal..

one main issue i had with linux mint is the insane constant lag and freezing for no reason (btw when i switched to windows 11 it was much smoother)

I' ve tried Mint and it still fails at the most important thing (for me): running and playing games from even the early 2000s without needing any additional tinkering than OS-installation. And even after tinkering (manually listing every Windows-game under Steam to launch it via Proton, or installing/setting up Wine) there's no guarantee the games will actually fully work.

Every now and then another video appears talking about Linux and my decision to change remains on hold. I like simple things and it seems like choosing the right linux and installing it are both complicated tasks, too many versions, this is about mint but then I find a dozen of other videos recommending me another linux. I just want a definitive version and easy installation like windows.

Linux distros are pretty good OSes, Linux Mint being one of them. but after you understand Linux a bit more, you can go to something like Fedora which should be pretty stable

I mean, it isn't really that stable, I use it myself, but it isn't so stable, for a perfect balance between stability and latest software, I would go with either nobara, fedora KDE spin, or just regular fedora.
