Great video! I love your description of certain things here, the Breakwater as a dock, Washington st. as a side street lol. Also the deer here are like domestic dogs that live outside . You should go check out the view on top of the rocks behind the elementary school !

@burntReynoldz thanks I really enjoy Eastport even if it’s not shown on the video. Been there five times. The deer are awesome. Next time I will visit the elementary school. Thanks for the tip.

St John's is in Newfoundland but St. John is in the province of New Brunswick.

I know the difference of the two and forgot. It's quite a bit to remember while just out for a walk :) @user-lr2sq5qx2r

Do you prefer Lubec? Is it more populated in the winter than Eastport? We are looking for a place to retire. So, access to healthcare is important too, if you have any insight or recommendations for cheap, coastal, possibly year round towns in Maine. Thanks for the walk about!
@TravelwithMrJon2 ай бұрын
@Johnis2nd I filmed a Lubec vlog as well if you look at the Maine playlist I created. The camping one and the Canadian border. Honestly both places are a bit out of the way for healthcare. If you are in Eastport the biggest hospital is Calais (35-40 minute ride) and Lubec you would likely do the 35 minute ride to Machias. Neither are big hospitals. Bangor is probably the closest major medical center and that's 90 minutes plus to get there. I wouldn't move to either spot unless you are in good health and are self reliant. Food prices are going to be more expensive - unless you want to drive to Calais to go to Walmart. That aside, if you love nature, quiet, and being off the beaten path both are great. I think I would choose Lubec over Eastport. I resonated more with the side streets and the coast, although by boat they are ten minutes from each other.

The United States captured Eastport from the British, not the Passamaquoddy. The British occupied Eastport during the War of 1812. The Passamaquoddy (and their various cousins) once lived and roamed around the entire state of Maine and the adjacent Canadian provinces. Europeans started taking away the Native American lands beginning in 1604; the United States didn't exist for nearly two centuries after that.

It was settled by fishermen and traders based out of Massachusetts if you want to be specific. What I was getting at is they overtime they took over historical tribal areas and clearly we aren't giving them back when you look at where the current reservation territory is. .@RichardAuletta.

The town looked completely deserted what is the population of Eastport one thousand?

@@TravelwithMrJon I loved the deer but it must get extremely cold in the winter and exactly how does a person make a living of sorts there?
@TravelwithMrJon27 күн бұрын
@@JohntheNobleSavage That's a great question. I don't know - even the fishing docks seemed to be shutdown when I visited. I had looked into moving up there several years ago and that was the first that I thought about. As a teacher clearly I can find a school, but even just buying groceries. There is an IGA in the city but if you want more selection the Walmart (40 minutes) away is your next opportunity. Hospital as well. I imagine now there are people living up there who work remotely and then there is commuting to Calais and Machias for some work.

1. You New Englanders not only copy the names of European cities and countries, but you also copy the Copenhagen mermaid. You can't do that 😐😑 2. Did you want to join the Coast Guard ? You've probably watched The Guardian movie, 2006 If you became a lifeguard, women would scream: Jona save me, I'm so wet 😉 3. 10:30 nice blue (?) house 🤩 4. You are ready for deer, it's good that you train before meeting dziki 👍 5. Elm street, holy sh*t ! Jona where are you leading us ? 6. Churches, churches, churches !!! 14:36 Beautiful wooden church 😍 Was this the promised video with nice architecture ? Nice churches and high school 👍

1. That mermaid showed up only a few years ago, so yes I agree. Posers - we clearly are. Don't worry this June when I do my road trip across the USA you'll see even more European names. 2. I wanted to join before the Guardian. In the late 90s I almost joined the Coast Guard. 3. You like blue? It's like a house for Smurfs. 4. So I'm ready now? You have deemed me ready? Yes - bring on the dziki. 5. I'm leading you to your nightmares... 6. This was the promised video but there will be more. Spain/Morocco are the next few weeks of videos and then we'll see what happens. June - Across the USA.

@@TravelwithMrJon If you joined the Coast Guard, if you were going to Europe now, you wouldn't fly by plane, you would come by boat, at the Coast Guard's expense 😉 Blue is ok 👌 You're not ready for dziki, but it's good that you're training 👍💪 Morocco may be interesting. Will you ride camels ? 🐪🐪🐫
