Everything we learn should cause us to pivot ( I think ). For Example, I grew up Church of Christ ( love the Acappella kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIuQl4CGfJV1r6c ) and I was amazed how listening to this TYPE of music on the drive to town from the farm for one week really changed me. It caused me to look up the scripture contained in the songs. Later, when like Jared, the Lord made sure I retained the understanding of Hebrew which is lost in most Hebrew language schools. It doesn't say a psalm OF David, instead a Psalm TOWARD David. In that, the Holy Spirit said, "Make all your songs TO your savior, not about you Savior." From that point on, I began watching how people reacted to songs based upon that truth, and yes, there is always more engagement with songs that sing TOWARD our Lord and King, rather than about him. Also, impossible for me to explain, but the Holy Spirit challenged me, "Monitor how your spirit responds differently based upon whether it is a male or female singing, because with each song, each voice, is a spirit and a blessing on curse." Sure enough, when males are singing, there is a greater blessing and impact on my soul. It strengthens me with a greater degree. That is heavy on my heart because of a friend who had a visitation from Christ, and he focused on the lack of substance in worship songs, focused more on Entertaining than Enriching.
