I was an odd child. I overthought EVERYTHING when I was little, and I do mean everything. And although I used to watch and love this, it was also my first experience with having an existential crisis. 0:51 is the spot that did it to me. I freaked out thinking one's soul could take leave of it's body while they slept, and worried that mine might forget to come back once it was finished doing what it wanted. Imagine my surprise years later when I studied Japanese folklore and mythology and found they'd shared a similar concept, called a "Ikiryō", a living ghost, that can leave the body during sleep to deal with the person's unfinished business... typically, in a less-than-pleasant sense.

Katy Petree I grew up with it personally. It’s my all-time favorite thing Shari Lewis ever did, but again that’s the nostalgia talking. I’m in my 20s and I have 4 VHS copies and counting.

Actually, I timed myself in counting "1 locomotive, 2 locomotives, 3 locomotives...". Counting to "44 locomotives" took me a minute.
