A few years ago I would have never gotten a Samsung tablet, but I recently got the S9 Ultra a week ago and I gotta say, they really stepped up their game. I was contemplating between the iPad Pro and the Ultra whenever I went to Best Buy, but as much as I wanted to like the iPad Pro, something about the Ultra was just so much more appealing. Especially that AMOLED screen, what a masterpiece. Plus the S Pen feels so much better to use than Apple's Pen which feels like I'm holding a branch/stick when I'm writing (IMO).

@@justinlikesme19 what the actual f are you talking about, it's a screen, and tablets (iPads) have always been more or less entertainment devices, and sometimes a sketching device. I have an iPad, so I'm looking at it in a less biased way, and S9U is a great tablet, just underpowered, but don't get me wrong, 8 Gen 2 is still a superb chip, just more of a phone chip rather than budget desktop performance wise. iPads are great for work, but with that LCD screen, well, even Apple is looking into OLEDs for iPads, so, in short, Samsung is basically ahead of Apple.

@@Somebodythatiusedtoknowwwow, that’s new to me I tested both the s9 and iPad Air 5 and m2 pro all pens had same latency, I chose the s9 for drawing mostly and gaming went for the s9 cuz it has more advantages over the m2 and the m2 and s9 are both really good, their head on head I’d say, but Samsung is a little bit better I must admit that’s why I went for it.

Apple is sticking to 4:3 ratio even on larger iPad Pro while Samsung provides more trendy 16:9 aspect ratio. AKOLED screen, Dex for laptop chores. Not everyone wants extraordinary powerful chip to cut and edit videos and to transfer them. Samsung is giving what majority would be satisfied with.

As far as Photoshop/Photo Editing goes, one of the GREATEST features of my Tab S8 Ultra that no one talks about is the 'Second Screen' feature. SuperDisplay a $10 app works really great. The Tab S8 Ultra has basically replaced my Wacom Cintiq as my main Photoshop editing device. It's higher resolution, wireless, lighter, portable, and the S-Pen might be even better... Samsung's built-in 'Second Screen' works OK, but it used to work much better than it does now, I don't know what happened, but hopefully they will update it to work as good as SuperDisplay does. Plus, your files stay resident on your workstation and you don't have to copy files back and forth. I find that SuperDisplay works exactly the same wired or over WiFi. If there's a difference, I don't see any. As you mentioned, it's SO much better than Samsung's Second Screen. It's pretty crazy to me that Samsung definitely knows how much of a superior product SuperDisplay is and they could easily license the technology (like they do Wacom's EMR) or even purchase the company without even batting an eye, instead they ship a vastly inferior piece of software... Plus, the device is awesome all on its own... Literally blown away by how great it is! The S-Pen is fantastic and FREE in the box. You don't need to add a paper-like screen protector ($40) in addition to the $130 you'll pay extra for the Apple Pencil... I'm a 30+ year Professional Graphic Artist. When some say that there aren't Professional Visual Arts apps on android it's just really incorrect, because I use them everyday. Autodesk Sketchbook, Infinite Painter, Concepts, Krita are just a few of the apps available on the Google Play store... There are many more... Are there a few apps available on iPad that aren't on the Play store? Yes, of course, but a good carpenter never blames his tools, and with expertise and talent you can do anything and everything on android apps that you can do on iOS apps - NO DOUBT. If you're already entrenched in the Apple 'eco-system'... Then pay the extra $500 to $1500...

I have both and this is the best unbiased review I've seen so far. Both tablets are fantastic and I couldn't choose between the two so I picked up both. I use the S9 Ultra a lot more. The beautiful big screen is just such an amazing experience, the battery life is impressive for such a big tablet and the keyboard case adds a lot of functionality. I'm not sure what Apple was thinking with the camera placement but I really don't like it. I use the S9 ultra for video conferencing at work and I never use my ipad's camera. When family want to facetime I usually just pick up my iphone instead so I don't look like I'm looking away all the time. LOL

I recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, and honestly the memory expansion give it and all the Galaxy Tab devices a leg up on the iPad. Thanks for a thorough review. My S9+ with Dex and 5G works well in my Sansung ecosystem. If an S10 Ultra with 5G is offered in the US, I will buy it. I use a mechanical bluetoorh keyboard. Samsung wants to much for its keyboard cover. i use Clip Studio Paint, which is overkill for business illustrations, and cheaper than PS. The S10 may come out too early to use the Sbadragon Gen 4.

Thank you for this review. I bought the Tab S9 Plus and its the most expensive tab I ever purchase, but it seems the M2 12.9” is on a really different level. I can see why its the most luxurious brand among its kind, the chip are extremely powerful and provides a long-term future proofing. It's way ahead the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Tab S9 is really powerful and with the snapdragon chip, it is the most powerful android tablet, but when compare with this Apple's M2, its just like a boy and a man comparison, and not even close.

Thank you for this! I was curious about this comparison. I feel like, ultimately, most people get a tablet as either a substitute for a TV or laptop. With that being the case, the Tab S9 Ultra is the more ideal, imo. It has the bigger and better screen (which can be a full stop reason), better aspect ratio, speakers, Dex and camera placement for video calls. I would assume most people use social media apps on their phones and this is one of the reasons why a lot of developers aren't optimizing apps for tablets. Even for iPads, albeit far more with Android tablets. Personally, I don't use a tablet as I find them an excess. However, if I do get one, it would have to have the absolute best screen with a decent chip inside.

Apple: "You must install itunes and do it thru it" SAMSUNG: "just connect, copy and paste bro!" Can you make WhatsApp video calls with your Wifi only Tabs? Apple: "no", SAMSUNG: "yes" Can expand your storage as when needed? Apple: "no", SAMSUNG: "yes" do you still have the same OS theme and layout since (God knows when) ? Apple: "yes", SAMSUNG: "NO, new os theme and layout changes with every new version of android, and there are apps out there to change everything to fonts, colour, layout, themes, mood etc" How easy is it for a developer to test an application on based on your OS? I have both. The Samsung tab s9 ultra has better battery life and I like the feature that uses the pen it can show the definition of a word from any app, which I haven’t found any thing close to that on iPad Pro. Either device is more than capable in the foreseeable future but iPad probably can last more years. But then apple is about to make big changes in the coming March with the iPad lineup so I don’t think it’s the best time to buy iPad now. I use galaxy for studying and use iPad for gaming. One thing the galaxy has is much better battery life.

I just traded in one of my older Galaxy tablets for the S9 Ultra, I use mine for drawing on Clip studio. The screen's vibrant colors along side the size of it is perfect. Much better than my daily drawing tablet for my desktop.

They're both good but I choose Samsung for Dex. With just my phone or tablet I can have a pc experience, a gaming console with xcloud, or portable entertainment. I used to hook my s10 to a monitor and play single player games like Fallen Order without buying a gaming pc or console with Geforce. It was great.

I am not gonna lie, in my house I use an ipad pro 12.9 and my father uses Samsung Tab so I know the difference pretty well. Trust me when I say this The Samsung Tab is a huge discomfort when it comes to a photographer's usage who likes to work remotely at random places on the go. Samsung's display is great but it is definitely very uncomfortable to use on the go. You will definitely miss a table to keep the tab on, even though it's thin. Please do consider the size of the back pack if you are a photographer and like to work on the go.

The S9 certainly exceeds most users needs: especially those who don’t need the insanely fast CPU//GPU performance associated with professional audio and video production. I fall in the latter category, and depend on the iPad to supplement industry standard Apple silicon high-end music and video production hardware/software.

Does ipad OS allow mutitasking in a way that other modern OS handles multitasking? Or did they add a workaround to their half baked OS? e.g. If the window is not focused, the app won't run or go suspended. Doesn't feel like the apps run in parallel like Linux, Windows, macOS do. Run an app that downloads a huge file, minimize that app while it's downloading, do other two tasks in a split screen. Does the download still running?

To compare these two Tablets just by comparing the specs is senseless. The big and only important difference is the software. It is no secret, that iOS has the much much wider offer for especially tablet customised apps. And this makes a much more appealing experience and more sense, if you want to use a tablet over a laptop.

Hello, I currently have a Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 tablet, which may be great, but I mostly use it to watch movies in the car. At night or in the shade it's ok, but when a little sun hits the screen it's worse. I have a question whether the Galaxy S9 plus would be a much better equivalent or maybe only the S9 Ultra. And how do the S8 Plus or S8 Ultra compare to it?

hmm, if you prefer colour accuracy, definitely go with the iPad, but if you're in the android ecosystem, and you much prefer amoled, go with Samsung. now, if ip ratings matter to you, go with the s9 series. also, in the ultra, with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 14 inch screen, it might feel like its about to tip over when holding it vertically (personal experience), so if that bothers you, and you feel like you'd do better with a 12" screen, go with s9+ or s8+ (note, base model s8 and s9 (not plus) don't have in display fingerprint, but instead side mounted)

As a tab s8+ user if you wanna do anything productive make triple sure that your work flow works with android(Actually do a test run) cause i had a very mixed experience. Now if you want the tablet for entertainment its beyond amazing 100% you wont regret it

I've said iPadOS needs to catch up w/ Dex and Android OS especially with multitasking. Being able to run multiple apps at the same time without having to minimize is a real lifesaver. I know quite a few streamers who use them to both monitor their twitch stream and chats at the same time in Discord. Plus: Samsung throws in the S Pen, while Apple charges a premium for theirs.

I never knew this tablet was out. I actually forgot about the Samsung tablet line. I had a Galaxy Tab 2 forever ago and it was a decemt tablet. The ipad was always my tablet of choice though. Seeing this and already wanting the S24 Ultra that gets announced later today makes me feel more compelled to dotch the iPad and give this a shot.

Feel I can answer that, i have an Tab S7 which first released 2020 and it still runs perfectly fine, without any reall slowdown in apps, additionally just switched to a new phone from an S9 earlier this month, which also did for the mostpart feel snappy and responsive but take some time to properly boot up and could run hot. Replaced it mainly due to the running hot thing and wanting a better battery life as i use it to give the tab a mobile hotspot which killed it's battery. This reputation i feel comes from how many lower end devices use weaker processors which while fine at release but can strugle ina couple of years.

I had a tablet for like 6 or seven years and never failed the only problem I had was when I accidentally drop it on the floor, that's when it died. And that tablet wasn't even an S series, don't believe apple fanboys, they've never used an android device.

this is dependant on the manufacturer. In samsung's case that really isnt an issue nowdays. U can get a tab s6 still nowdays which is years old and it still runs extremely well. But dont expect the same thing from other brands. Samsung in general makes extremely solid products that are pretty good many years down the road. Problem is people will get a cheaper brand that is inferior and take that as the android experience even though older top line brands like samsung proppducts will beat it out

I'm not normally someone who prefers Apple products. I have a Windows computer and an Android phone. I work as a 2D artist and use Adobe apps and other creative apps such as Figma and Procreate. I needed to buy an iPad because it offers mobility for my work. Even though I don't like using it much, it is more than enough for the work I do. I condemn Samsung and other big brands for not offering me this opportunity.

As someone who uses a tablet primarily for video content consumption, 4:3 aspect ratio would be a deal breaker for me. It has no advantages whatsoever either. When you want to scroll social media, you can always hold a tablet like a phone. iPad is maybe better for video editing, but aside from KZbinrs, nobody needs such advanced tools.
