You have to do it on the big day...he was probably the best Galway ever produced, but the best ever, is rubbish...Carey/Shefflin all did it on the big day, Callinan Tipperary and O'Dwyer, Horgan Cork, all did it when it mattered and the team was looking to them...in Joe's defense he had f-eck all support, except for 2017/18, then, he had a quiet day against Limerick too....came alive in the last 5 minutes and stoppage time..

@@Bock75 Well Cuz! You've got to be having a laugh. They are both great players but there is a clear separation between them. I will not bother to get into their stats but Shefflin is by far on top and to say otherwise is just not factually true sorry. DJ Carey is the only other Hurler over the last 40 years I would put in the same league. I am Limerick so I've no bias towards either.

Christy ring .1hour n tougher hurling times .A man apart from the modern hurling greats ,Modern era it got to be joe canning .I've never saw d j or Henry smack over 3line balls in one game .but he was much more than that ...A complete hurler

Afraid Joe Canning has a long long way to go before he can even begin to be compared with the likes of D.J.Carey Henry Shefflin among other like Jimmy Doyle Christy Ring Nicky Rackard (59 goals in championship and over 60 minute tough games)He doesn't score near as much from play as the first two mentioned have scored from play. Long road ahead and he hasn't set the world alight in recent times.
