Started Judo in 1967. Raced motorcycles in the 70's. In the 80s I worked around a boxing family (Arroyo's). In the 90s I lived next door to a family of ranked Bull Riders (Stephens) and eventually helped with schools and even built a portable arena and promoted 40 man Jackpots. You two remind me of all those folks and how solid they were. Some of the best people I've ever been around.

Graduated in 98, was born in 1980. I remember buddies who were steer riding in Jr High. Me and a few friends set up a drum between 4 pines at my families place and we went to work. The next weekend I mustered up the courage to start bulldogging (steer wrestling) and within a month I purchased a bull rope, riding glove and some resin. Then gathered up the courage to get on the back of these boney ass 800-1000 pound wild ass steers. Damn I miss them days of hot beers, wranglers and most of all the fellowship!! Enjoyed the ever living phuck out of this conversation, thanks to everyone involved 👍

This particular video was a recommendation after I got done listening to the "Don (Frye) & Dan's (Severn) Toxic Masculinity Podcast" so it's definitely having a show that's about Bull Riding and one of the greatest to ever fight in mixed martial arts. For anyone who hasn't seen his WEC days prior to the UFC and you're a current fan; those are must see and I'm sure they're on YT...or Fight Pass if you've got that. MMA has been "mainstream" less than 20 years. It's crazy to think this was almost completely outlawed (headed by Senator McCain). As as a former fighter myself, listening to the guys who were doing at a much higher level than I was (back at that time) and the old school guys who were there at the beginning, telling stories that I can relate to -- Let's just say this type of content is sorely needed in today's world with the lack of manliness that's been pushed by almost everything else that's "mainstream". Cowboy Cerone is LEGENDARY amongst the hardcore fans...aka, fellow fighters and people who train (or trained) on a regular basis but he garnered massive popularity from your Mainstream fans once he hit the UFC. The Cowboy-Connor fight was a disappointment to some and even Cowboy himself; However, anyone who has ever done this for an extended period of time knows exactly what he's talking about with not wanting to be there for whatever reason, which usually didn't end in our favor. Other than that, I cannot remember ANY fight that he had that was considered a disappointment and there were a TON of them. That all being said -- I've always found bull & horse riding to be interesting to watch and to be fair it's no surprise that he's giving this a shot; even if it's temporary. Not too bad of an interview so I might have to check out a few more guests. *Edit* Congrats on training some BJJ because that will help you with EVERYTHING you do in life and if I had to take a guess; definitely with the Bull Riding!

Was on set with cowboy for his first feature film. Dudes a real cowboy without a doubt😂. There was a bodybuilder type dude who came by and watched filming for a bit with his girlfriend, after he left cowboy turns to me in between takes and says “aw shit, I was enjoying looking at his woman” 😂 Dude is seriously hilarious and on top of that a great actor even in the first film he ever did. It’s fun when someone you watched for years is even cooler than you imagined them being. Actually a super humble dude too. Legend status without a doubt.

I've seen Cowboy before. When he announced he wanted to come into the Rodeo world on a challenge. I started looking at him. He can make it. Glad to support him . I personally backed away from the UFC for all the yapping the new guys do. As ya'll were talking. That is one of the things that turned everyone onto the PBR. We no longer had to check in with a secretary in the afternoon and lay around and wait for 6 events and everyone to get out of our way. Between Dale and J.B. he has a good shot at covering this bull. Ya'll should think about a 3 shot deal. Keep him healthy and train him up Dale. Toes out. Chin down Ol Son!
@dalereinhold64010 ай бұрын
What % do consider a “good shot” at success against Twisted Steel? I’ll give you 2 to 1 odds he doesn’t make 8 seconds! I love Cowboy..but just like fighting, there’s levels to this game. The absolute BEST in the world have only rode Twisted Steel 3 times! Even with Dale and JB…he has almost no shot. I wish him well. And kudos for having the balls to even attempt it. Cerrone is a legend.
@travishendrix702610 ай бұрын
@@dalereinhold640 I am a retired rider. I understand the game. A rookie rider against a rank bull is a bad match up. I think they should do a 3 shot deal to be fair. Experienced riders have a hard enough time. Riders sometimes make it look easy. This is good PR for all involved. I would like to see him cover the bull.
@dalereinhold64010 ай бұрын
@@travishendrix7026 Yeah, don’t think Dana wants to put Cowboy in danger anymore than the 1 ride. He’s knows he can’t talk him out of trying once, so he’ll pay the 100k to charity and let him get it out of his system, but he cares about Cowboy and his well being to agree to multiple attempts.

Thats pretty good money, I remember my coach fighting in a lesser org making 1000 to show 1000 to win as an undefeated fairly accomplished up and coming pro. He used to tell me when/if i went pro I could expect to make 500 to show 500 to win in my first few fights, I got a fulltime job shortly after and never looked back hahaha Oh ya and cowboy was always my favorite fighter met him briefly when I did a Fight camp in Albuquerque back in 2017.

Hey Dale!! I love the vids. I’m a 15 year old bull rider out of sylacauga Alabama. I just started last August. I’ve only gotten on a few. There is really no one around here who has bulls and could help me get on the right track for bull riding. (Everyone has ranked bulls). There’s also no high school or jr rodeos around. I have been watching you for a while. The bulls you put your intern on are not as bad as down here. They look fit for me. I was wondering if I could come down to radiator ranch or buck town and u help me? This would mean so much to me and make me view you as way more of a good and truly friendly person you are. Sincerely, Elijah! Respond with your answer!

I punched a guy that was on a motorcycle one day also and he took off and stopped at a pay phone. For you younger folks we didn’t have phones n our hands they were on poles spread out all over town. Always one on a corner. So he was calling the police so I didn’t stick around. I fought a guy for about 45 minutes one day and i did damn good for the first 15 minutes the next 30 minutes this guy managed to beat me beyond recognition. That’s when i learned about endurance lol.
