“Donald Judd Spaces” is an in-depth exploration of the houses in which the artist Donald Judd (1928-1994) lived and created his works. Starting with the building in 101 Spring Street in New York, a 19th century house that Judd bought and built into a five-storey studio, gallery and home, the book surveys Judd’s exceptional sensuality and the close connection between his work and the spaces in which they were created. In his will, Judd stipulated that he wanted them preserved exactly how he left them; today, Judd’s spaces in New York and Texas serve as museums and are open to the public. The book includes newly commissioned photographs as well as archival images, architectural plans, drawings and essays written by Judd himself.
