Just yesterday, on another Olbermann page, I noted that the drumpfiles really ARE abyssmally ignorant, even regarding Hitler. They were arguing, for example, that Nazism and Communism are the same thing; that Hitler was therefore, a communist, even that "Drumpf" auf Deutsch is pronounced "Trump." I likely have relatives I never met who lived (and died) through the Third Reich -- my mom's parents came to this country in the 1920s, and in the late 1930s had to go back to Germany after a relative's death during the early years of Hitler's rise to power. (The family story is that my aunt got into an argument with some of the Hitler Youth and almost got the family in hot water.) Thanks for this episode, Keith.

Unfortunately, this is the *second* time I've seen it. I was born and raised in Louisiana, and was 24 during David Duke's run for governor. So what the other 49 states get as an intro course, I get as a refresher. The scary thing is that Duke was actually more polite as a candidate than Trump is. Believe it or not, Duke's racial demogoguery (i.e. "the rising illegitimate welfare birth rate") was not nearly as bad as his anti-liberal demogoguery. Even the latter still wasn't as blatantly contemptuous as Trump's blatant anti-"loser" demogoguery (i.e. anybody Trump disrespects).

This is probably the best informative series I've ever seen. I'm less frightened of Trump than of his followers, the fanatics and the cowards. He's a weak imbecile who only wants to rich and respected but he never will be respected because you can inherit that only until you open your mouth. However, his followers are evil and strong in their desires and see him as a conduit to their ends. The cowards are mainly the politicians who somehow still think they can "control" him and maintain their jobs and positions of "respect". The rest are frightened losers who are looking for someone to lead them, even if it's over a cliff. They've been lost so long they'll follow any authority figure.

You might try toning it down as an outreach to the fringe of trump supporters as you tend to shoot farther and farther over their heads the more upset you seem to get about this Keith. Trump supporters can't be convinced. There is no point in trying. All we can (and should, and must) do is to inspire the biggest turnout possible to ensure Hillary is elected. A piece like this elucidating Trump's disturbing parallels to certain other moments in history is one way to get people motivated to turn out. GOTV.

One difference between Hitler and Trump is, Trump wants to leverage everything to make himself richer. For Hitler, it was for expanding German territory. Other than a few slight differences (vegetarian and meat-eater, for example) the two share a lot in common, though Trump shares more similarities with Mussolini.
