Yessir! I’m a 6th generation American, and my family on my dads side hails from rural KY. One of my cousins on his side did one of those detailed DNA tests, came back over 80% Scottish. I was astonished by that, and I came to learn that the community my dad and grandfather are from is almost purely Scottish in ancestry, with a handful of Irish and obviously some African and Native American. I love little isolated communities that naturally resist outbreeding. I’m glad to have a majority ancestry that I can celebrate, and that my blood remembers.

Americans have become accustomed to hearing Europeans deny them claims to Euro ancestry, which is bizarre. It would be nice to see that sentiment disapear, and this is very refreshing. Mine as well but I wouldn’t put to much faith in these dna tests. My dna test says I’m 35 percent German but I’m not German,I’m English. And in case you’re wondering both parents took it too, so my parents are my parents.They compare your dna to modern populations in the area, Our ancestors left 400 years ago , lots of genetic changes in that time. My dna tests say I’m 52 percent English, 35 percent German and the rest Scandinavian. They really can’t differentiate Germanic dna in different populations very well on these sites.

My family, along with many, many others, are largely descended from German, and Scots Irish immigrants. I share this ancestry with President Trump. Many people of this region still maintain a fierce sense of loyalty to faith, family, and friends. Being born into poverty is seen as a badge of honor and rising out of this poverty is highly admired. My family on my mother's father's (born in 1899) side descended from the Picts and was almost all Scott. They were forced out of Scottland and went to Canada. From Canada my great grandfather who spoke little English came to America and made his fortune in coal. They continued to marry other Scotts, and we are connected to the Wallaces. This Scotts became lawyers and dealt in the energy industry, and land development in California when land was cheap, so they quietly acquired wealth. They tried their hand at politics but realized they were better at working behind the scenes. My grandfather was a great man and my hero. He was a concert level pianist at the age of 12, he played the bagpipes, he could speak 7 different languages, he fought in WWI and WWII, he could fly a bi plane, expert horseman, a trained theater actor, and singer. During the depression when no one could find work he made big bucks working for the ultra-rich in the US as an entertainer at private estates around the US. I just want a return to the days when kids were enthusiastic to discover their roots and ancestors. This wasn't even that long ago. We used to have ethnic festivals in America for all the various European settlers who founded and built this country. I'll add outside of the book I'm sure people here won't like it but even Freemasonry lodges started in Scotland by the Scots which had huge impacts obviously to the modern world. Scots are some of the most influential people in history like that of the Romans. Adam Smith the father of all capitalism was Scottish for example during these enlightenments described in the book. His thinkings were used in early debates of the forefathers in the US and such too as they'd referenced his book for helping construct the economics of the country. Consider the first Free Mason lodges came from Scotland and have massive influence on civilization. You also have the works of Adam Smith who is the father of all capitalism. Adam Smith was even referenced/quoted when the founding fathers of the US debated on how to setup the economy. So on and so forth. You have every right to be proud of being Scottish, people have the idea of Scots but don't realize how intelligent and powerful they were on the upper echelons of society and the peak of civilization.
