US President Donald Trump has said the cause of the Washington DC air collision is still unknown, but attacked diversity policies at the Federal Aviation Administration.
Trump was giving a press conference following the crash between a passenger plane and a military helicopter.
Officials have said no-one is believed to have survived - 64 people were on the American Airlines flight and three on the helicopter.
Trump blamed diversity rules under his predecessors, saying he believes people were hired for air traffic control roles who were not qualified - but he offered no evidence for this.

That has NOTHING to do with this accident. This accident occurred in the most congested airspace in the US and where the military routinely flies right through the approach path(s) for the airport. The CRJ was exactly where it was supposed to be. The Sikorsky training flight requested and was granted visual control by the tower and confirmed they had the jet in sight. Sadly, it appears they had misidentified another aircraft as the CRJ. So, how is that even possible? Because helicopter pilots are sitting in a glass bubble in an airspace saturated with lights from all sides and it can be difficult to pick out one light among an ocean of light at night. DEI had nothing to do with it.
