The foreshortened beams projecting from the arches knock my socks off.

You open my eyes to so much that I don’t at first see, and I was an art history minor in college. Thank you so much; I’m addicted to these videos!

I cannot help but feel that Leonardo must have studied this or at least inspired when he created his Last Supper. Thank you for this marvelous video!

Dear Beth and Steven - I continue to be awe of this period, and some others, in the past. Thank you for bringing it to light.

Herodias and Salome suck. That was kinda all I had to say, but let me legitimize this comment as someone who's already seen this video: Continual narratives do not suck. It's a clever and interesting technique I enjoy seeing. 🙂 I wonder if a selective gilding would've added to the effect. Maybe someone's employed both techniques.

Gilded bronze with gold . Donatello didn't mess around. linear perspective, emotional intelligence and contrasting color technique. What is avant garde at this point , really ?

Drama, perspective, sensuality - in sculpture. Now that high Renaissance! Great choice of art as usual. Great narration as always! 😊🌈

As you might know we record on site, and we haven't been to Jordan, yet. We do however hope to have an essay on it at some point. In the meantime there is a mention of the desert castles here: smarthistory.org/umayyads/
