【Introduction】Love Between Fairy and Devil is a period Xianxia directed by Yi Zheng ("Young Blood"), starring Esther Yu ("A Writer's Odyssey"), Dylan Wang ("Phanta City"), with special appearances by Xu Haiqiao ("A Dream of Splendor"), Guo Xiaoting ("Chinese Paladin 3"), and Charles Lin ("Café. Waiting. Love"). This drama is adapted from the novel of the same name by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang, which focuses on the story of the angsty love between the arrogant big devil Dong Fang Qing Cang and the soft and cute little fairy Xiao Lan Hua. The goddess of the Pixin tribe was exterminated by the demon Dongfang Qingcang (played by Dylan Wang), and was reborn as a low-ranking fairy in the heavenly realm ten thousand years later. In order to gain freedom, Dongfang Qingcang has to sacrifice the soul of Xiao Lan Hua to lift the spell seal on his body. In the process, this devil who has broken his love and desperation falls in love with the gentle and lovely Xiao Lan Hua......

And she's a goddess that has ability to heal and to resurrect. So yes he's back but the ending is too short!!!!! And so unsatisfied and that why many are so confused 😑

The ending... even if it is a happy ending.. i needed to understand how he came back!? Like he came simply and saying im back... after 500 years...

A few things. The charm he left was probably a part of him, and where Orchid/XiYun is living is a place of healing. It just took him a while to regain his body. Though she had believed it was still a long shot as she had told Qingcang’s younger brother. Kind of like when Orchid took some time to regain her human form after dying.

I'm doing a re-watch, partly to understand how this is possible. Here's what I've learned: 1/ when they first met + kissed, Orchid's goddess power activated and a bit of her soul implanted in his. (The Arbiter pretty much confirms this in the last few episodes toward the end) As the goddess, she has the power to restore life. That explains why later when she becomes an orchid seed, he's able to bring her back because some of her power resides in him. 2/ he gave her the bone orchid (the half-moon shaped item) to protect her in the beginning. He transforms it into the bracelet. He puts in on her while she sleeps and explains it's made from his blood. Also relevant, it's mentioned in the earlier episodes that Dongfang is a true immortal, and he can't be reincarnated unlike everyone else. He doesn't go through the cycle of cultivation and having a human version of himself that must go through suffering and tribulation. That makes him coming back even more daunting. My theory (purely a theory!) is: because the bone orchid is made from his blood BUT separate from his body, that's why it isn't destroyed when he dies. In fact, it comes back to Orchid in the end. Additionally, I would even go so far as to say when a bit of her soul implanted in his at the beginning, his may have done the same. Theoretically, that means a piece of his body via the bone orchid and a piece of his spirit via Orchid, still exists. Therefore, the combo of her ability, a tiny bit of his soul, his blood, and HELLUVA lot of hope on her part is what brings him back.
