of all rock debates, the one certain is that ROGER has aged the most gracefully

Very true and meaningful words from Roger at: 2:16 "I think good music should be left to the imagination. I think videos take something away." I agree wholeheartedly with that statement. To me, the music matters much more than the visuals.
@allbottledup9513 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, but they’re are certainly music videos which do actually enhance the music. Cry - Godley & Creme, and Highwayman - Highwaymen come to mind.

My daughter got to see Roger perform for the first time on his 2018 Tommy tour, and she's going to get to see Roger and Pete together as The Who this May. So glad they're still together so I can pass my Who fandom on to yet another generation.

Love The Who and Roger or Pete are always good to watch. Two things stick out in my mind from watching this. 1. Roger is the type that ages well. He still looks remarkably good. 2. Daves questions are really good and on-point. I dont think they're all pre-written either, he seems like he just wants to know something and asks a question. Kind of like how Larry King conducted interviews that were so watchable.

Roger was always bound to age gracefully. He has always been in really good shape and very muscular, he seems to eat healthy food, loves the outdoors and was never into taking drugs and rarely drank. And I agree with what you said about Letterman. There are so many interviewers who talk over the guest or make it all too scripted, but this feels so relaxed and comfortable!

Daltrey has obviously taken care of himself by avoiding drugs. He looked pretty good at 40.
@519djw62 жыл бұрын
I remember hearing an interview with him from the '80's, and he said he tried to do something athletic every day. And, on top of that, he never indulged in drugs the way so many rockers did. In his autobiography, "Thanks a Lot Mr. Kibblewhite," he covers why he stayed away from drugs, and I think Keith Moon's physical disintegration and death served as a great "negative example" for him.

40...looking like he's in his mid-20s. Roger's obviously up there now, but he aged great, well into his 60s and still had a youthful appearance. I think a lot of it was Roger's attitude: stress-free, don't-give-a-fawk attitude.

Another reason Roger probably didn't like making videos was, from what I understand, MAKING them can be dreadfully boring. On one of the Queen DVD's, Roger Taylor talks about how you're standing around forever while they're setting up lights and stuff, and then you spend forever redoing individual segments of the song, and so forth. And then when they started doing conceptual videos, like the one Queen did for Calling All Girls, you've got this director throwing some crazy story line at you, saying "Trust me, it'll look good when you see it on the telly", and then when you DO see it on the telly, you're thinking, "What the bloody hell is THAT supposed to be?!".
