Stood behind this trio band at the newark , NJ airport security line today and saw the drummer holding a drum case that had SCREAMING FEMALES written on it.Had never heard of them so i looked them up here. Cool stuff! Wish i would have asked for a cd or something

I think we hear the our own influences more than the band's. When I listen to Screaming Females I'm reminded of Superchunk, and Marissa's guitar playing sometimes makes me think of Richard Thompson. That's just as likely to be a product of the way I listen as the way they play. More, probably.

this is what is wrong with the music industry, they continue to force artists like pitbull and taylor swift down people's throats and bands like this who are so much better don't even get a chance to be accepted by the main stream.

I have no idea how one could think she sounds like Stevie Nicks, but fair enough. I made that comment after being on numerous videos of the band and pretty much only seeing female comparisons. Just look at reviews of PJ Harvey or bands like Warpaint, the fact is that most people are extremely lazy and think in a very one dimensional way as soon as they see a musician that happens to be female, and it gets tiring. Also I can't imagine how reductive and limiting it must feel to be the artist.
@minimumcontacts13 жыл бұрын
saw'em on Carson too. effing wow! vox/guitar is a frickin star! how many ways can YOU type the "f" word?

I always wondered if this video was some type of homage or recognition to Pablo Picasso. The shapes/styles of the instruments and the “cubism” in the video remind me so much of Picasso’s work with instruments (La Guitarra, Violin y Guitarra, etc....). Since Marissa P. is a pretty cool artist herself I wonder if that was the intent of this video.

As someone who gets compared to one of 2 mainstream female rockers that are not tits and ass, I loathe the fucking comparisons to a limited array of chick rockers out there. You see androg and immediate throw out Sleater-Kinney due to a narrow minded idea that there's only one other out there? I think she is wonderfully unique and unlike any female rocker I've yet seen. This is good shit right here.
