In a way, Dante with this mod is even more powerful than the standard DMC4 Dante. The styles in DMC3 are very powerful, but can't be used at the same time (naturally), whereas in DMC4 Dante has instant access to all styles, but is more limited in variety. Dante also has Quicksilver and Doppelganger in DMC3.

@@SoysauceML I really don't see how it's harder if you get used to it. Being able to switch styles on the fly gives you access to all options at any given point in time for every different situation. If you just play Trickster for example you miss out on the damage of Swordmaster. Being able to switch styles is far more optimal than being forced into just one. Also. That clip you provided. While a good example of "optimized" gameplay is nowhere near more skilled than what's displayed by donguri. It's far less execution heavy, far less in need of adaptation and quick thinking. Kind of a brain dead and boring way to beat Vergil tbh. This isn't KI or Tekken or MK where you only stick with the highest damage combos to get by. DMC is about killing demons in style and this gameplay is anything but stylish

@@s-boy4613 You literally just said what I said, "optimized" gameplay is nowhere near more skilled than what's displayed by Donguri. For players of higher caliber, the difficulty of the boss fight is never the real issue, but the restrictions they impose on themselves, such as using weak attacks that aren't effective both in damage and style meter. If you just want to beat the game, using all styles will be easier, all you have to do is to use the style that's best suited for the situation (which isn't what Donguri doing at least 90% of the time, since he aims for the most clean/good looking majority of the time), but to play in an inefficient manner that constantly switches styles smoothly and make them flow together just for flair requires much more unnecessary complexity when you can just try to vary a bit with one good style like quicksilver which offers huge invul and time slow. It's not even a question that DMC4 Dante has much more depth than DMC3 Dante, why is that? With DMC4's much reduced difficulty even in DMD, you can get by with one style in battle absolutely just fine, arguably even easier than doing it in 3 with mechanics like fullsteam and DRI. It's because of the options given to Dante that makes him even more complex, and the players that tries to utilize these aspects as much as possible. If you care a lot about limitations, I recommend watching firearm only / no growth runs for DMC3, they're probably a blast to watch for you.

Sorry, I'm 2 years late, but I thought it was worth pointing out how Donguri was using a style switching mod in this. So normally the gameplay isn't quite this in-depth. DMC 3 does hold up to today's standards for sure, but it's mechanics have definitely been improved upon.

Before the fight, Dante was blabbering stuff about being the "Sons of Sparda" Vergil just shrugs it off since his brain was still high on "power". By the end of that scene, he raises Force Edge with a smug look on his face instead of drawing Yamato. Showing that he thinks he can handle daddy's walking stick, unlike a weak human being like Arkham. (And possibly Dante as well, who he has seen to have sided with the hoomans.) Vergil then loses the fight because of his arrogance and drops both Daddy Edge and his Amulet. This is where he had a choice... If he was planning to swan dive his way to the demon world anyway, he could've grabbed Force Edge since that's where it originally belongs... But instead, he grabs the amulet, choosing his mother's memory over his father's power. His mother being the reason why he wanted to get stronger in the first place, this may be Vergil snapping out of his power hunger. He then says "You can't have this, Dante. It's mine, it belongs to a Son of Sparda" as a direct nod to Dante's speech before the fight, basically saying "I get what you mean now" as he holds the amulet tight to his chest. His final slash at Dante's hand was the baton pass from a Son of Sparda to another. Now acknowledging that Dante may be more capable of handling their father's power than he thought, he leaves both Force Edge and their mother's world in Dante's hands. .... So yeah, Vergil wasn't literally "Proud" of Dante per se. But the whole scene showed his change of heart towards his twin, whom he just saw as a pain in the ass until this fight. Edit: And that what makes this final battle expertly crafted on a narrative stand point, because it trusted players (ones who cared, at least) to read between the lines and see the shred of care these brothers had for each other.

But I'd rather have a good remake of the game than a movie adaptation, tbh. :) The main highlight of DMC3 as a game was the 3 encounters you have with Vergil. He's the player's rival and equal that pushes the player to get better as they traverse through Temenigru (or how ever it was spelled xD) It's an experience I'd like later generations to remember DMC as a franchise. And wipe that disgraceful reboot off the map.

@@MrMatijas16 For style switching, more moves for every weapon(King Cerberus being just one example for what they could do to the rest), and more complex, more difficult bosses. Along with giving Vergil his new combos as well that were in 4/5. Playable Lady. That's not even including the beautiful animations and and graphics, turbo mode on release instead of SE, and Legendary Dark Knight Mode. Perhaps give us Nero in a special edition like they always like to do to Vergil in other game's SE. Sure we may get slower loading screens, (or not considering next gen console SSD's) but that's more than worth it for all of the above.

From my conclusion, I don't want to be involved in the quarrel... because I understand both sides' thought. With regard to its battle system only, I think the game is nice and amazing while it is a fact that the game lacks enough consideration toward the past series fans' sensitivities. Well, personally I want to see and play DMC5 rather than the continuation of the game.

Literally all but one of them being, hit them here and there before they literally fall on their face where you hit the glowing point for massive damage. No longer were they just like normal enemies with expanded damage, health and movesets as the ultimate test of your skill like the previous games. The only one that was even decent was Virgil, and he was still subpar compared to DMC3 Vergil's boss fights. The gameplay and bosses were honestly the biggest problem with DmC, it would of been fine if it weren't called Devil May Cry, but the game just couldn't hold up to any games 3 onward gameplay/boss wise when it comes to complexity and depth.

i love that the style switch mod makes styles like quicksilver and doppleganger a little bit better than normal, since you're not limited to using that one style until you can change it
