People seem to forget that Tesla only become so successful and PROFITABLE because of the Model Y and 3. They sell about 70k Model S and X PER YEAR. NIO has a run rate far better than Tesla in the premium department. NIO will get to profitability and 1m cars or more per year by 2030 (if not before) by developing sub brands. I'd be super happy if NIO maintained the 20k monthly "run rate" over time. The mass market is "where it is at" and that's going to be their focus going forwards. IMHO.

I think your analysis is correct. Going for 3 pure EV brands, unique battery swapping, in-house chip, self driving, full eco-system (including own phone) at home and abroad is a high risk approach that will lead to very high reward if successful. One weaker week or even one weaker quarter will not make the difference. If you believe in the overall business model, these are the days to buy the stock for the long term (3 years+).

1 Most Americans never heard of Nio not most people. 2 China sells more ev's in a month then America in a year. 3 Swapping will be the future of ev's so everyone else is behind and will have to catch up. 4 Three more cars being released next year, what do you suppose combined sells will be? NIO's guidance for the second quarter indicates that ONVO production will reach 5,000 units in October and 10,000 by December. Therefore, we shouldn't expect 10,000 deliveries until December.

Well it was stupid to begin with to go with the subbrands.. Like you said, people barely know Nio, let alone 2 subbrands of it. Could have easily done like a budget version of nio that is calld nio, like merceds has the A, B, C class and such.. The mgm did a lot of good, but also a lot of just horrible mistakes

Sounds to me like the CFO is stepping and doing a better job communicating internal financials within the company. They simply must address the financials to stabilize their foundation moving forward so that it is seen to be moving on an upward trajectory and becoming more profitable as its vision is implemented

Nio sales excluding Onvo are about 31% up year to date compared to 2023. You can not reach conclusions based on a month alone, and there are other factors that could explain the relatively week deliveries: the national holidays (deliveries and production were paused), preparation for the launch in the UAE (possibly diverting car production to the new market), or other reasons that we are not aware of. Though deliveries were a bit worrying, it does not prove a trend. Also for Onvo, the slow start is not due to slow orders but due to production ramp-up. If they execute well, we could see well above 10K Onvo deliveries in December.

It's the right move. I would have done the same. Essentially it;s not about NIo or Onvo, it's about the 2nd gen platform and 3rd gen platform, because 2nd gen won't be compatible in the future, Nio wants more 3rd gen cars sold, not 2nd. they will ramp up Nio sales once 3rd gen Nio come out.

NIO/Onvo is a long-term play. The global market opportunity is huge with 1B vehicles on the road and only 50M or less are EV's today. Thats 5% of the market opportunity. The EV disruption is just starting.

Nio is never delivering of what they say. Last year they hired lots of sales people and told us the will sell 25-30k Nio per month in September or October last year. Very disappointed with Nio management.

I'm not sure if saying "some people have cancelled" is a valid concern without seeing the numbers. I have too mixed expectations but Im not sure ir October alone is enough to say this will be the direction going forward and NIO will only sell 16k or less going forward because they now focus on profitability. I think NIO had lower odds in the past than now...hard to say

My "concerns" with NIO is that they are too fast. They now HAVE to keep the Nt3 platform lifespan for at least 6 years, with just incremental updates and usual models refreshes. Therefore: reducing R&D spending (or spreading over more years or on other key tech for the future) Avoid al the constant transisions which affect ramp up of models and surelly impac supply chain and margins Avoid Osborne effect (what are they gonna introduce on nio day? an NT3 Es8 or Es7? ) Nio surelly has many potential customers on the fence becouse they are too fast MY has been the same for 4 years, people know something it's coming but they also know it's probably a moderate update, and after that they know that will be the car for the next 5 years. NT3/SkyOS should be the Final boss for NIO/ONVO for the rest of the decade Improving PSS and investing in NIO POWER, sure, i'm all for it, but the Cars Platform is by most metric the best on the market right now.. Pedal to the metal to sales.

In my opinion I think its because the onvo brand is on the new updated technology and battery system. Nio brand will need to update their lineup to the new technology to drive sales in the nio brand compared to the new sub brands.

As an investor, what I really focus are two things: the business model and the people&culture executing it. In terms of NIO's business model, the sales of vehicles and the swapping ecosystem are two interplaying flywheel-effect factors, as increased sales will help NIO build more swap stations, and more swap stations will boost local vehicle sales. So the key question is when NIO will have enough users to reach a breakeven point for the battery swap business, and the key answer is ONVO. To do that, William Li mentioned multiple times NIO brand would be targeting better margin, while ONVO brand would be targeting higher volume, which is consistent with what's going on now. With that being said, I believe what an investor should truly believe the management are doing the right things, for the long term benefits of the company, without micromanaging too much: judge numbers every month, even every week; be affected by fake data(you need to know the difference between sales data/insurance data/delivery data). After all, investing is just like hiring a team with a better expertise and knowledge that you, you need to trust the team is doing the right thing, and there is no other way to win.

IMO, they are doing the correct thing. Remember when happened in 22 when they launched new ES6, so many people are waiting for NT2.0 car and Nio’s Q2 sales was a disaster. Now they can still sell Envo and hope can launch NT3.0 Nio brands soon.

I share your opinion that ONVO will be the growth driver of the two brands. This does not only become easily apparent when comparing feature/price ratios of the L60 with comparable NIO models. Another, even stronger reason is that ONVOs price tags fit much better in the overall reduced pace of the Chinese economy. I guess, willing car buyers are much more sensitive on their spendings. If the Chinese economy was booming like crazy it might be the other way around: NIO brand might have better sales numbers. What I could not understand so far: Why has an instant delivery so much priority to Chinese car buyers?

I don't think Onvo is a complete strategic shift, IMO NIO doesn't want and can't afford for Onvo to fail, by fail I mean not selling the target of 20k per month, once the 20k per month for Onvo is met then NIO can pick a new focus, Onvo is the correct answer to the current macro environment where the margin per car means a lot & the price war, lets assume if NIO was selling more NIO cars at discount on negative margin in eyes of investors might as well not be selling any NIO car as NIO would lose money per sale. As the macro improves NIO will likely adjust to that, both with Onvo and NIO cars, also wanted to mention that scaling Onvo from zero (Oct) to target of 20k (Mar) in 6 months doesn't seem slow to me, with ramping up incrementally they can identify any major issues that public may find with Onvo

Your conservative delivery targets doesn’t justify the lower performance. Xpeng MONA delivered 10K+ cars within first month of launch. ONVO sales eating up NIO shares will impact vehicle margins overall.

There are more competitive sub $20K cars in the market in China, there is not real advantage for ONVO L60, and can't delivery those L60 car in F2 since F2 is fully automatic factory. Firefly needs different standard swap stations. Waiting L60 full production will be in Q3 2025. based on all those current time frame and delivery status, that is not worth invest in Nio.
