I mean, part of that confidence may come from not showing his face any more. It's easier to be less self-conscious when people just know you as a Minecraft skin and disembodied voice. Plus you're less likely to have awkward encounters with random fans on the street. I know if I was making videos and getting even moderately popular I wouldn't want my face involved for that second reason.
