Race 3, starts 1 and 2. After a disastrous start, hitting neutral 3 times, I was swallowed up by most of the grid, and honestly, I was just glad that 1st gear was long enough to give me a bit of speed rather than being dead in the water on a race start. Once I got going, I knew I had to get moving to catch Page and Wells (30 and 83), who were the Supertwins that I was racing in Races 1 and 2. I caught up by the end of the first lap, and was feeling great, but the race was red flagged. Initially, I didn't know why, but some say it was for rain, but I had only seen a spot or two. Disappointed.
Restarted straight away, another terrible start, honestly no idea what was going on. It was shifting fine everywhere else. But, again I had work to do in a short 5 lap race. I could see Wells and Page together up the road, but I got caught in the pack too long and they pulled away, leaving me with 2 standard twins. After riding the SV650, I know that it's annoying when an RS660 is "in the way", but equally now I understand the frustration of decent SV650 riders blocking drive out of corners and forcing more defensive lines. They'd get me at the esses and goddards, my weaker points, which is fair enough, and with my Supertwin competition too far up the road it was a case of just getting the race over with. Some areas of the track I was 7th quickest overall, but I need to work on the weaker points. Running the kerb at esses is a must, but after my experience at Croft last year I seem to have a mental block on it.
