Excellent job by the marshalls as always with the fire. UK Marshalls best of the best

Yes, it's only a matter of time until the slow response of certain circuits (especially in Germany) have serious human consequences.

That fire was brutal. Well done to the marshals for extinguishing it.

That Megane is nuts, never seen any car produce a flame like that! Sounds like the afterburner on a military aircraft!

looks fab doesn't it? Amazing what ECU mapping can do. Micro-delay leaving unburned fuel in manifiold from one cyclinder.. and advancing ignition on the next cyclinder; triggered by rev count, speed and gear selection. all to minimum time lost. Impressive and Fun!

At 7:22 it was those same cars who collided at oulton park resulting in two other cars being collected because those two tried going 4 wide into the first corner of Oulton park and 2 of them flipped just before the pit exit

Some are rather creative with their track finding.... :) Yes, cutting a corner can happen - but a few times it was clearly seeking advantage, else they would have been passed. Well, the famous track limits also a big issue in F1 lately.

The 58 audi looked like a brake failure... although novice cross on the back may tell the tale as a very ambitious move.

@suyosq2 it's a very very common failure at Donington that for whatever reason is rarely talked about. I see a few usually every year. Some terrifying results as well

Dear oh dear…some twitchy steering there! Great captures! That Lotus(?) was toast in spite of the marshals efforts sadly.

i don't know the extend of the (presumably fuel leakkage) but if the first would have tried to cover the source instead of the symptom (puddle), they might have had a slightly better chance. But then again, I don't know other than what I see here onscreen. But as a Rally Marshall, I would have gone to the source first.

@@cinqpower if he’d pulled off the circuit immediately instead of just stopping in the middle of the track, perhaps the asphalt wouldn’t have melted? As you say, I wasn’t there at the time. Do they have to pay for damage caused?

I hope the asphalt hasn't melted or Palmer will be having someone's head! That's brand new tarmac that😂

@@cinqpowerLots of ifs. I don't see how we can judge what the first Marshal did as all we can see is them aim at the base of the fire before the scene is obscured by powder and smoke. Can't see if they went under the car or in through the wheel well. I imagine if the wind direction had been different they would have been able to tackle it more effectively without being driven to the other side by the heat and smoke. Also another case where a driver walks off from a seemingly still running fuel pump without cutting the electrics or triggering the on board extinguisher.

Gimme a break mate, I'm still working through the lemans videos, you cant be burning down loti (plural) until I've had a a chance to catch up lol I only got a chance to glance at Sunday's stream on top of the 500 things racing this weekend but it did seem the old hairpin was the place to be again, everyone throwing it away and a cr2 saving the whole field from being lost in a deluge by rolling in the gravel and bringing out the sc just before the thunderstom arrived..... annoyingly lol No idea if they went back green after the thunder red though...

I'm a marshal, and I heard about this incident from the guys who were there. Fuel line broke and the fuel cut-off failed on the car. It was literally dumping all it's fuel which kept re-igniting. Very difficult thing to deal with.
