This is only when you are playing the 2 Player Contest Mode. Instead of Co-op where each player controls a Kong, Contest gives each player their own 2 Kongs, Separate lives, stats and colours. Both players take turns completing the game. A turn is over when a level is completed or the player looses a life. So P1 is normal Diddy + Dixie and P2 is the Violet/Red colour scheme.

I can tell you were playing on version 1.0, because switching Kongs through the floor only works in that version, and Kreepy Krow is too fast in all other versions for anyone to catch up to him.

I don't remember what compressor I used, but something about the audio did get changed when I was uploading this. I remember in one of the earlier DKC2 videos that Target Terror has the cart railing sfx messed up you if watched on anything lower than 480p or something. Can't say what happened as I don't even know lol.

Back when I was a child the time I had the super nes for the emulation When I was facing that volcano living sword boss called kleever I always wonder what happens if I drop the kongs into the lava to see if I still win. So I try it out by throwing the cannonball for the last blow to defeat the living sword boss and I did my thing by jumping into the lava but after the living sword boss was done doing it's death animation before drowning into the lava the death jingle music starts playing to know that the boss will win if I ever jump into the lava before the boss is defeated.It's kinda similar to mega man x where if I defeat storm eagle he start exploding for his death animation who fights over a pit and if I where to jump over the pit during storm eagle 's death animation sequence the boss will win where I will have to fight the boss again but this time without falling out the stage common sense for me as gamer but on the other hand I love super nes thank you for uploading this video of the kongs losing there lives in different various of levels. My favorite scene of the death animation in this game is how the kongs fall down longer in the mine levels,insect hive levels, and the ship mast levels, similar to super mario world where if the mario bros lose there life they will fall down with the camera following you until both you and the camera will reach the end of the bottom from where you always started and thats when the camera will refuse to follow you.And my other favorite scene is in screeh's sprint racing level where squawk died if you lose a life but dies again when speech made it to the finsh line saying hey I already lose why kill me again? and when squawk stays there while floating or sometimes fall along with you denpenging on the impact from the enemies or traps you fly into or hit and how the kongs has there own knockout animation when you lose a life like diddy and donkey kong rubs there head and dixie and kiddy kong cry into tear while the animal bubbies just fly off the screen which is the way same when you lose your lives in this game. It show how enjoyable this game can be, good times forever. But man I was like WOW thats kinda funny and cool at the same time but anyway enjoy games on both super nes and sega mega drive good times but THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS VIDEO IT VERY FUN TO WATCH SO THANK YOU PEACE

Actually, yes. You see, the game will subtract a life from your total the moment you take the hit that calls for the music. There is a glitch that you can use to end up with -1 lives during a stage (No number shows after 0). If you collect a Balloon while the counter is in this state, it will still be set to the same number essentially. I recall testing this and still getting a Game Over as a result.

It is a glitch. It has something to do with the positioning of your Kongs before you press Select (which causes them to move in the opposite direction, ignoring terrain). It's very rare for it to happen like seen here, but I've seen it used in a TAS before. Oddly enough I learned about it after seeing it happen.
