So early on Zera talks about how J has fewer loading frames compared to U. If you want to see a very distinct instance of what he's talking about, watch carefully when the guys do 1-5 (16:18). You'll notice that at the end when they reach the goal V0oid's screen clearly fades out first, and yet it's Blunt's that fades back in to the map screen first by just a fraction of a second afterwards.

FishfingerRmx The guy you are talking about is raikourider. He was a 103% speedrunner of dkc3 and appearently they didn't want to give him a mic because he was the only one who would actually talk about the game. Most of the people on the couch /runners are dkc 1 and 2 speedrunners and hate dkc 3.

Why is VO0ID playing the English version if Japanese is faster?

For a while we thought U was the faster version, but then Bleak Skip was found. While J is technically faster by roughly 30 seconds, you have to rely on a frame perfect trick (which Blunt got on the second try, amazingly). Also, v0oid and Blunt wanted to show off the many differences between the 2 versions. DKC1 and 2's U and J versions are almost the same. This game isn't. Hope that helps.

Originally this was to be a three-man race but Nocturne unfortunately couldn't make it. In that instance all three of them were gonna' play on U. With Nocturne not being able to make it though they instead decided to showcase the differences between U and J.

I'm pretty sure that some time after it gets uploaded the videos get edited, because I watched yesterday and at 10:30 my friend who was there in the front row got up and hit a dab on his way out, but now the video cuts to the run much sooner, and showing less of the crowd. So when the other guy put the timestamp it was correct, but its not now.

Some people call the DKC trilogy one of the best trilogies in gaming, but when watching videos like this, I find the prospect of people actually liking all three games to be pretty miserable... I swear most people only like the first two games, which is a pity because the 3rd is my favorite (or tied with DKC2...I can't decide).

I recently played all three for the first time in order. In terms of casual play, I think DKC3's platforming is a lot better and less gimmicky; I wasn't a huge fan of all the squawks, the falling quawks, or the wind. It's tough, though, since DKC2 has high highs and obliterates DKC3 on all artistic fronts. It feels like a CRIME to say, but DKC3's my favourite too, man.
