Donkey Kong Country Medley (FamilyJules7x Challenge Entry)

Whoa! Your skills with syncopation really sets this entry apart! Absolutely killed of these songs and did it with excellent technique, feel and arrangement. I really dig the twang of the telecaster so the tone tickled my fancy a lot. Sometimes it's tempting to through really mind bending awesome rhythm stuff over stuff, but make sure they're beneficial to the arrangement as a whole! Most of them were cool, but remember that non-musicians might hear these things as weird and hard to latch on to, but I'm just nit-picking at this point. This is one of my favorites so far!

You've got a good ear, like you know how to keep stuff interesting and dynamic with not only your leads but rhythm as well. Ive been following this contest and have seen EVERY video. While some have been VERY good, this one has great flow and feel, tightly played, and is separated by not being all "metal" (which is not a slam ye metal heads). Bravo good sir... This one gets my vote........so far :)

This was great - but that bit (0:37 - 1:01) really stands out. The tones, the playing, just in general super catchy and awesome. That's my only real complaint - you put the best part right at the start. x'D Great job, congrats! All that syncopation too was mind blowing - I don't think anyone in the contest could compare in that regard. Dem Rhythms, brah! I also really dug 2:36 - 3:05, 3:28 - 3:52, 4:39 - 5:28 and 6:34 - 6:47. Not to say this wasn't all great, but those little grooves really sold this on me. I hope you make originals dude, cause you rock those prog rifs on that jazz guitar, and the use of twang and tones in places you usually don't hear em made this. Really solid and unique sound, I dig. I play a 70's Fender Strat myself (hand me down from the pops) and play Proggy shit as well, so huge feels from me for this. x'D

I've been trying to put my finger on what I like so much about this cover, and I think I got it. You have a sound very similar to Iron Maiden x Dream Theater but in a much more modern way. You display in this cover a musicianship that rivals David Wise's interpretation. You are not simply covering the song, you are adapting it, and that's amazing. Man, the bar is already fucking high in the league of DKC covers for some reason, but you are up there. This is a no brainer sub right there.
