Prime 4 on the way! Tropical Freeze is great fun tho. I beat it on Wii U. It's a very challenging & impeccably designed platformer (no Funky). easily one of the best ever made, with a superb soundtrack and memorable boss battles. You really can't go wrong with the game.

Don't be jealous. This isn't even a good game. I beat this a couple of days ago. Got every letter, unlocked the bonus levels to do those as well. A lot of the levels are long, they feel like a chore after you beat them once. Dk 1 & 2 are way better than this if you played them on the Snes.

Its better than DKCR. I love playing as Funky and want to play normal mode as Cranky. Im looking forward to playing Crash and Octopath Traveler the most or even looking forward to when Dark Souls gets released.

Completely agree, I tried so hard to like it. There is a good game in there, it was just completely ruined by those controls. It would take some work to retool it, but I think it would sell well enough to be worth it.

I honestly think underneath the terrible controls, Star Fox Zero was garbage to the core and it's all because they were trying to make it resemble the N64 game. Half the game is on rails, and when you are in free range mode, you're confined to a tiny battle space. Why was a 2016 game confined to the limitations of the mid 90's? I'd love to see an all new, fully modern Star Fox, but Zero was a total dead end.

On the Switch? It's gorgeous! (I never had a Wii U).... well worth the £40 retail for the cartridge (aprox $50-ish)..... apparently smoother framerate (60fps constant)/gameplay and a higher resolution too over the Wii_U version..... it's a lovely Switch game!

I had this on the Wii U, then decided to upgrade to the Switch. But...best part? At my local game shop that gives GREAT trade-in credit, I practically got DKC Tropical Freeze for free with all the stuffs I traded in and still have credit left over. Good times. \m/\m/

Well if the this game was packaged with DK RETURNS than I would’ve gave it a second chance on the switch, but nope, not buying the same game twice and it’s more money this time.. they did it with Bayonetta, u got u 2 games for price of one basically.. DKTF is an awesome game tho, I love to play on my switch but not for $60.. Ports is expensive I tell u geez.. thank god I still have my Wii U, saving me a lot of money..🤣👍🏽👍🏽

Loved this game on Wii U, I love it even more on the Switch. Of course I'm biased though, because I've been a huge DK fan since the '90s. The shorter load times and portability factor alone were worth the upgrade for me. Funky Kong as a playable character was just a cherry on top.

Due to the bad timing of Wiiu version it got put on the buy later list , Iv been replaying dkcr3d and it's got me wanting more, I was just going to get Wiiu version but knowing my luck dlc will happen, it and something that ties into the new online plus added future support and the whole anywhere anytime with anyone is a great addition because dk3d is one of my favourite on the go games, Iv been shopping around and with best price in mind it's £20 more than wiiu double but the home and handheld is kinda 2 in 1 and video sharing of your slick tricks , Do I just pay the extra, I'm thinking dlc will happen as even Mario kart dot a substantial amount hyrule is unbelievable so are the upgrades worth it especially loading and any thoughts on dlc? Just seems bare considering nintendo and how been handling ports

I will say I kinda wished we had something more with this game: - A Diddy / Dixie / Cranky mode - An actual tagging mecanic like in the old games - Online leaderboards for the time trials - Remastered DKCR levels - New levels - Nods to other games, like K.Roll ship or Jungle Beat's bosses.

Well you can play as any of the kongs on hard mode, and there is a leader board where you can see other peoples time attacks for any stage. As for the rest it would be nice.

Remember I got hooked on diddys quest on the gba and yeah hard as nails in places so the addition of easier characters is a great idea for people who maybe don't have the hours needed to plough though this masterclass in platformers

If the game was full priced the same as the original Wii U pricing @ 50$ I could have justified the purchase since I haven't owned the game on the Wii U but jacking up the price with nothing really new other than Funky Kong, nah. Also the game has anti aliasing in handheld mode (or maybe it's 1080p downsampled to 720p which gives some anti aliasing), not sure about docked 1080p anti aliasing as I only play my Switch in handheld! Beautiful game!

Donkey Kong Country is a tough as nails platformer though and I kind of suck at platformers--so it takes me a while to get through these games. There's even a small tinge of nostalgia I get from playing these from the old yellow cartridge DK Land on the original game boy--anyone remember that? lol

I really wish they would have added the other game 'Donkey Kong Country Returns' aswell in the Switch package of Tropical Freeze. Either way, I've seen the Digital Foundry video and can honestly say that I WILL be getting it for the Switch. :) (That's when I eventually folk out and buy a Switch that is haha). Bottomline, get the Switch version!.... It's better in every possible way. It's the definitive version now.

By comparison: “Donkey Kong Country Returns” on the Wii is a great game but the later levels got so difficult I never beat it. A few years later, I picked up the 3DS port (at a discounted price), which added an “easy” mode. I still found the game challenging, but with the extra hearts/lives I was able to play through the entire game and enjoyed it greatly. So, it was definitely worth the double-dip on the first game. As to “Tropical Freeze”, my Wii U version is still in the backlog, so I won’t be double-dipping...yet.

I have this for the Wii U and never beat it. In fact I stopped in the second world and don’t remember why. And now my Wii U is sitting dusty and I haven’t played in over a year. I decided to pick this up. Had some Best Buy points, for it for about $45. Already in the second world and it is really fun!! Plan on beating it soon. Good video !
