I thought she was “ just” one of the best groove bass players I’ve ever heard....but HEAVY jazz chops? Good lord. Easily one of the most gifted musicians I’ve ever heard. Mercy...

I don't understand why y'all always use the word gifted, you think they were just born with it? What you don't see is the insane amount of hours they poured into honing their art

@@ahmedrazan4554 happy to explain it to you. So not all musicians are created equal. If anyone who put in the hours could be a Tatum or Bechet, well we'd have 100s of thousands of them running around. He's referring to the bit that goes beyond the effort - that considerable time has been committed to the craft is obvious to even a small child. But working hard isn't the part that really, deeply impresses us is it? Millions of musicians work hard. For some, there is an inexplicable part that cannot be accounted for that puts a musician at the next level, that rare echelon of the top 1%. And in that sense it is said to be 'given', aka gifted. By God or otherwise. That's not to say someone couldn't arrive via brute force (say, Coltrane who tirelessly practiced the basics as well as constantly addressing his weaknesses), but many of those that 'make it' have what can only be described as a 'gift'. Hope that makes sense.

Sister Kenga, I am inspired! Those staccatto, arpeggios following the piano (towards the beginning of the piece) are amazing. It happens so fast I can't tell if she is harmonizing with the piano part or following the melody a couple octaves lower. It's like they are one instrument played by one mind, intense. The level of musicianship being displayed is breathtaking. ❤🎉

Kinga is certainly one of the most expressive bassists I've seen. It is always such a joy to witness a musician who so clearly communicates their own enjoyment to the audience. She reacts as a true listener of her own music. And the rest of the trio is killer as well, this was such an intimate viewing experience!!
