Yes! I was in middle school and hated my life, being constantly bullied for being gay. This song would come on the radio in the car on the way to gymnastics practice and I would smile. miss/mrs Lewis i would like to thank you for this song and the timing of when it came out. My bestfriend turned girlfriend would sing this to me and this song pushed her to open up and tell me she loved me. we both were scared to tell the other. There’s just something in the way this song builds over the course of 4 minutes. We get these lovely, poetic verses that still retain a sense of melody, the ear candy of the chorus, and that absolute banger of a bridge. The fact that it melts away with a softer chorus is so satisfying after all that. Much more staying power than most other songs that came from this era.
