I love Donna’s vocals, but it’s not really a fair comparison, is it? Janis was like a howling banshee Tina Turner disciple with a shaky voice and a bit of a southern drawl. Her vocal performances had an element of improvisation to them. Donna’s voice is much more measured and precise. In each performance of this she is basically doing the same thing. I really don’t see the connection other than the fact that she’s a woman singing soulful rock vocals extremely well.
