Every day I thank God for making me a teenager in the 70s - the music, Jaws, the Exorcist, Star Wars, Close Encounters, Grease... and Donna Summer exploding onto the scene.

RICORDERò PER SEMPRE QUESTA VOCE, QUESTA MUSICA, QUESTE NOTE, CHE FURONO LA COLONNA SONORA DI UNA DELLE SERATE PIU BELLE DELLA MIA VITA.

OMG! You have me roaring! But now that you said it, I'm wondering if the songsheet was mistranscribed! (Song sheets and music book publishers sometimes have to transcribe chords, melody, and LYRICS with nothing but the recording to go by. The transcriptionist writes what he or she "hears." For example, in the song, "You're the One that I Want" from the musical "Grease," the transcriber mishears a lyric. The song sheet has Olivia Newton-John as Sandy singing, "Meditate in my direction..." when the ACTUAL lyric is "Better take my direction." (Can't sing the B sound into a microphone because it makes a popping sound, so singer dampen the B or the P, almost making the B and P sound like an M). Millions of people bought the songsheet and the Grease songbook with the wrong lyric, "Meditate in my direction." Even transcribers whose job it is to make closed-captions and subtitles use the wrong phrase. Now how do I know it's actually "Better take my direction"? Because I wrote to John Farrar, the writer of the song, and asked him. And he wrote me back! He didn't even know that the lyrics were wrong in the songsheet and songbook. As for Donna's lyrics, when she was difficult to understand, I'd ask everyone who would know the correct lyrics.

Check out the actual Oscar nominees for Best Song in 1977. What a joke!! John Barry and Donna Summer were robbed!!! ('The Slipper and the Rose' was actually released internationally in 1976, in L.A. on November 4th, 1976, and was nominated for British Oscars and Golden Globes in 1976. Why did the Academy feel compelled to nominate it in 1977???)
