I was 14 when it was released. I was in Band in high school and by chance we were trying to learn the band version of M Park, and I remember the trumpets were having a hard time sight-reading the rhythms. The 60's version was a vague memory for most of us - some had heard it on the radio at one point or another, but it was not on the top of anyone's familiarity list. I had gone on a bilingual exchange to Quebec City that summer, and had picked up the 12" DJ version while there. It was a one-sided record (play other side!). I brought it in to school and played it on the Music Room sound system. The brass got the rhythms right after that!

Love this song. When it first came out I cranked up the volume on my way to school one morning and just about blew the speakers out of my truck. Fantastic song and Donna sure had the voice for it. It still rocks.

It's not perfect - I still hear a difference - it seems that every version of a recording has someone tinkering with the EQ and reverb before they release their version, regardless of format. The difference between the various CD recordings of this tune would amaze you! It's hard to bring something back once it's been taken away... now why am I thinking of a Joni Mitchell lyric? Now that we are no longer limited by the time duration of an LP, music can last longer! Heaven Knows has really grown from what it was originally on Live and More... Enjoy the music - I do!!

I'm glad you do. So do I!! It has been a favourite since 1978. I owned the DJ 12" Single first, and it took me a while to realize the differences between it and the album version. I really enjoy Heaven Knows - for some reason it strikes a chord in me. One of a Kind really shows off her vocal range, and the whole thing is Donna's crown jewel. Have you listened to my Once Upon a Time Suite? I just tempo-matched the songs and merged them together, but it makes a fine medley. Believe it or not, but Disco has become my "easy listening" music!
