It is so difrficult to sing in these arenas because your voice will bounce off the stadium and come back to you while you have just finished a word and you're on to the next word and the next note. They key is to sing slowly. And, the planes weren't there yet, so Donna held out the note... because she can... but, once the planes pass, you get drowned out by the roar of the engines. I love her. She has an incredible voice.

People always bring up Whitney Houston's version as being the best version, but people need to remember- Whitney lip-synched her studio version that time. Donna did this difficult song acapella and as always, she sang it just the way it should be sung.

Donna and her family were my neighbors and friends at 16 Parker Hill Ave. in Mission Hill. A sign was erected at the corner of Parker Hill Ave and Huntington Ave by the city of Boston which reads "DONNA SUMMER AVENUE". The memories will last forever. R.I.P. Disco Queen.

A lot of singers use a backing track when singing in a large stadium because of the echo. Donna dealt with it as you can hear from this performance. She left spaces between the notes so the echo wouldn't effect it.

2 differences: Donna sang live and acapella Donna is also very humble, and sang the song the way it was written. Like she mostly did. Whitney's was ofcourse the best rendition, but you can't compare a live version to a lipsync version.

Whitney wasn't sung with a backing track, it was 100% lipsynch, including the music Donna has recorded all her 'disco' albums in one take except 1 song, Macarthur park which needed 2 or 3 takes because of the difficulty of it. Not only did she record it one take, she often made the song up while recording. Donna was a vocal chameleon who never sang to impress. She used her many different voices for charachters but didn't oversing, like this anthem. she could easily hold the note 10 seconds longer and do some Mariah runs. She's just not that singer. There are a lot of amazing singers, But Whitney and Donna should always be mentioned in the same breath. Even Whitney would agree to that
