"Weighted" keys are very important if you are practicing with a goal of, or are also playing on, acoustic pianos. It is quite unusual to have that at this price. I'm of the belief that every home should have a piano (especially if there are kids) but one of these will do just fine.

Who did you buy it from? because I bought it from donnermusicinstrument. Com. And they lie through their teeth telling me that they sent the piano then they tell me Hours later that the piano was defective so now they’re waiting for them to come in then they tell me that they send it the next day so for me they sent the broken one or nothing at all. I’ stopped the package midway and told UPS to send it back and now I have a dispute with my credit card on them

The Donner seems like a good choice for a beginning student aspiring to play difficult classical pieces but does not have the space or budget to maintain a wood-based piano. It is great that it comes with a decent foot pedal, 200 plus rhythms and voices, good speakers, music stand and features a recording function. The connectivity and output jacks combined with the speakers make it a functional recital or performance instrument. Nevertheless, the Yamaha P-125 or the Casio 1000/3000 seem like better choices [in my opinion] as they seem to offer the possibility of fulfilling a student musicians creative and performance potential better.

New subscriber here. I, too, came upon the Donner line of digital keyboards. The company gets rave reviews for its customer service--Yamahàs c/s makes me not want to buy their products. But your excellent video cleared up some concerns I read about the poor speaker power and the weighted key touch sensitivity. I am 70 and want a decent keyboard to learn from before I plunk down $5,000 for a Clavia775 :) Thanks Jeremy--you helped me make up my mind!

Jeremy, thanks for all your reviews. I have a question about something you stated. At the 1:50 mark you mention the DEP-20 has graded hammer action. But when I look at reviews on Amazon, I keep reading that all the keys are weighted equally. Additionally, the photo and description from Donner makes no mention of graded weights. Can you please confirm whether it is or isn’t graded (Heavier on left, lighter on right)? I’m hoping to purchase this weekend to take advantage of cyber Monday sales. Thanks in advance.

The ongoing question of “does brand A sound 5 times better than brand Z to justify the price” is answered at the 6:02 mark. Perhaps I’m in the < 10% of people (per other videos) that can tell the difference. Having said that, the sound quality is far better than the cost suggests and anyone looking to spend even as far as $750 ought to take it under serious consideration. my 0.02

@SuzetteLouw
@SuzetteLouw 3 жыл бұрын
If you want to practice at home the Donner is good, also if you want to connect it to a DAW it doubles as a midi controller for music production software. I'd say the Korg B2 voices may be of higher quality, but there a fewer and connectivity to your computer is not as straight forward. I would choose the Donner and once you outg row the Donner get a recital or ensamble piano above the USA$1000 mark.

@SuzetteLouw 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Feraldy, This would be a good piano for you if you want to get close to the feel and, expressiveness of an accoustic piano as it has weighted keys. It depends on the type of piano pieces you want to play. Many classical pieces require the full 88 key range, for other music genres 61 keys will suffice unless you really want to get into deep bass parts along with the higher registers. Cheers, Suzette

I was hoping for Jeremy to do a review on this before black friday but the amazon reviews and the feature set were so compelling that I had to pull the trigger. I bought it as a holiday gift for my 8 year old who is learning to play. I want to give it to her as a surprise but I don't think I'll be able to wait that long! after reading the review, I want to open it up and play with it myself! Thanks for reaffirming my purchase Jeremy. I just have one question for you...I saw you mention that Donner had better features but lower quality than a Yamaha P45 for example. However, in the review, you raised no concerns about the feel of the keys or the sound quality. My daughter is a pianist, so these are the two most important things for me. what quality concerns do you have related to sound quality and keyboard feel? I trust you and I'm happy to pay the 100 more for the P45 if it is MUCH better than the Donner DEP 20 in those respects. Anyhow, you are great at what you do. I'll drop an update on this thread to let everyone know how she likes it. Everyone - one last thing, make sure to watch the ads that play during Jeremy's videos. It's how he gets paid for his work. Buying these keyboards, shooting and editing these videos isn't cheap. It's the least we can all do for the man!

@@JeremySee Quiklok is the best! My first keyboard was a Kawai K4 and a Quiklok stand. I still have both, in perfect condition after almost 30 years! But after experiencing the joys of a hammer-action keyboard, I'm going to buy this Donner keyboard! It's remarkable that I paid well over $1000 for my K4 with synth keys and 16 note poly and now I can buy a weighted hammer-action keyboard with 128 simultaneous notes! I think the only "advantage" the K4 has is the ability to create new tones and save them. Jeremy, thank you again for your always wonderful reviews!

Hi, Jeremy. Which beginner piano should I buy? This donner or the alesis recital? Both seems to be at the same price in my country. I am saving with a lot of effort to be able to buy one of these, I hope I can. P.d. english isn't my native language, sorry for grammar mistakes.

I think decent established-brand second hand electric pianos are still a better choice for 200-300 euros/dollars/what have you I find my 10+ years old casio PX-320 (for example) very satisfactory, especially in terms of action, despite also playing in much newer and fancier electric pianos.

except those who have a very limited budget cannot risk getting a used unit without warranty and it fails on them...
@gkrrrrrrrrrrrrr
@gkrrrrrrrrrrrrr 3 жыл бұрын
@@JeremySee ya, the warranty issue is an excellent point For people new in the sport that check second hand instruments (often the target group for those keyboards) bringing along someone with experience is a must, but still hard to be confident issues won't show up soon after. I guess the ideal case is know someone in person that has upgraded and can borrow/sell their keyboard but that's relatively rare

Hi Jeremy, I am from Hungary, Europe. In 1991 I''ve bought a little Yamaha arranger keyboard, an absolutely simple one, although it had split and some automatic, single-finger accompaniment for the left hand. The thing was fully FM-synthesis, no MIDI, worked on 4 AA batteries only, had 120 fairly bad voices and a single 1/4 inch headphone out, but it had a single-line numeric keypad. I liked it, but not for its sound or capabilities, but know what for? It had mini keys, may be even mini-mini keys. So it was very-very portable. The worst and cheap $50-99 beginner/kid keyboards have at least a lightyear better sound in this years, but I miss for some years a fairly good, probably Yamaha PSR-E373-level arranger keyboard with mini keys! I live in a space-restricted apartment, have no room for a full-size 61-keys arranger. Please, suggest for me (and for the others with the same problem) a decent 61-key arranger keyboard with mini keys! Thanks in advance: Andrew

This is easily the best bang for your buck when it comes to beginner pianos. Going with this one. Thanks. I've been looking at others that cost nearly twice as much that have half the features.

Hi Jeremy, I bought this keyboard and noticed that the upper keys are very quiet and soft compared to the middle and lower keys. Is this normal? I'm a beginner so don't know if my keyboard is defective or this is how pianos usually are.
