Years ago the glow in the dark flatfish and J plug are the best. The big ones that are for salmon. When the ice leaves the lake is the best. My best is 18#.

@@MartinLai-p7k Hi Martin, thanks for watching and commenting, I have some of those flatfish from trolling on the Sac Rover for Salmon, I'll give them a try. I think my struggles at Donner have come down to fishing in the Summer, I need to hit it up in the Spring. Stay tuned, I'll get a bigin' on the line!

You are so right, very difficult lake to fish. I’ve done it a few times many many years ago and it’s more of a boat ride, just enjoying the beautiful views

Are you required to have a boat inspection sticker to launch at Donner?

@@rsdelacruz1202 Hi there, yes you need an annual sticker. You get them for free at the Police Department near the Truckee airport. There is no inspection, you are responsible to self inspect and to make sure your boat is clean and dry before you launch. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I went back to Donner today with my boys, skunked! Headed to Pyramid Lake next!

Best lake but gets hot and cold regarding the bite. Seems last 10+ years have been weakest, from the docks, due to lower stocking #'s compared to the 80's and 90's but those Macks are definately out there.
