Worth the shot there Mike! I sometimes leave a few GE's idling while I work on the layout, and it's cool to hear all the sounds and compressors starting !. Fond memories of my trip over Donner in 2015 and passing through Colfax and the other places I've watched dozens of times on my Pentrex DVDs! Thanks for posting! Cheers Gregg.

Nice smooth start. So, the air compressors fired up when the engineer released the train brakes. Then, the engineer opened the throttle a couple of notches with the independent (locomotive) brakes still set. The the engineer slowly released the independent brake to gently get the train moving while slowly stretching out the slack. Then just "walked" the train up to speed, slowly notching the throttle out. Good train handling. Yep, those GE's sound good.
