Should You Be a Full Stack Developer?

Great explanations! I mentor two folks to get into IT. I used to say to them about having a closer scope by now and then, moving up from there. I do not plan to be a Full Stack any time. However, I do not keep my learning scope only inside the Android world. Some time ago I have built a Web Crawler in Dart to some a real problem. It runs even over pagination. I got to know a bit more about Dart solving a real need. The data is saved on a database which I expose with a Basic API. I got a quite valueable experience in this journey.

That Dart example is a perfect example of this. Well done. I love when I can solve a problem like that and use the results afterwards. Very cool Jesse.

Hi Donn, I was wondering if you been using JavaScript for a little over a year as your somewhat first programming language and make a couple of small projects and decide to take up Python and D'Jango to become full stack. In your personal experience would you say that this is too soon, or does it depend? I heard you mentioned that you should spend some time when you're first starting off with one programming language. Would love to hear a little more detail on this, if possible, thank you and I appreciate it.

Everyone progresses at different levels. If you feel you have a good handle on JS or just feel driven towards learning Python, then go for it. I've tried many languages and sometimes I like them, and sometimes I don't. This career is an exercise in experimenting with various things to find out what you like doing. Let your curiosity drive you to explore.... there is no "one way" for everyone. Everyone is different in this regard. I hope that helps.

No, it’s a huge market with lots of opportunities. If you enjoy it, do it.
