I have been listening to this lecture second time since I heard it in the past. It is still the most powerful and understandable approach to learning dancing philosophy . Love it!💖

This is what this video is about: "Latin Dance-Partnering & Leading, Character & Content in Partnership". Donnie Burns builds up to the "Character & Content" in a perfect dance partnership in the latter 3rd of the video. His lecture here is about concepts not technique. At the end of the video, he revealed the simple method that made them famous and among the best in Latin competition. That simple method, in his words, was "...unless you have something to offer, and what we always had, I think, was a fantastic enthusiasm for the dance. We wanted to practice. We wanted to get it better. So we did. That was it." I hope you see what he was talking about. It said that both he and Gaynor wanted to dance with each other, wanted to practice as much as they can together to get it better. There was a joint focus and goal, they were unified in it. This means she was not a means to an end, and neither was he. She meant everything to him and he to her. I say this because I experienced, in my dancing with a partner, what Donnie Burns was talking about in the whole lecture. When a partnership works harmoniously, it definitely show, it is a beautiful thing to see and experience (from the audience standpoint), and that makes the impact.

Around 22 years ago I was lucky enough to witness these legends training in a London dancing club. Those whole 1,5 hours i was there they have been training one single move of the basic Cha-cha lock getting the perfect amount of energy to lead the partner. And there were no words, not a single argue, just one "simple" move to get it perfect. That was astonishing, mind blowing actually. True professionals, best there is. And Gaynor is the perfect partner you can wish for. Always open to try new things, to experiment and choose the best.

Donnie & Gaynor are so incredible dancers! I feel so blessed to have watched them compete at the United States Ballroom Championship in Miami. They are together a movement that is beyond just dancing, encompassing incredible perfection and they are a sexy latin american ballroom dancing couple!❤️💃🏻🌟

The legends themselves. However, would have liked Donnie to have explained why the Samba is the most difficult. He also lost his train of thought a few times...

As an outsider, who doesn’t know who this guy is, I can tell you that he has a huge ego and he thinks he is very important. I am sorry to burst your bubble but if you like him, you are a cult follower.

considering he basically invented the way latin dance works today, Id say its fair enough for him to have a bit of an ego and an outsider like yourself cant comprehend his genius in any way shape or form so your opinion is pretty much irrelevant.

Were you ever in the presence of a master who knows what he is talking about? What you see as ego is absolute mastery. Gaynor obviously loves it and is about as perfect a partner as one could experience. She selflessly gives to the audience and matches Donnie versus competes with him. Mr or Mrs Kapritchosa, it is not ego, it is mastery. If you can get past your ego, you might learn something.

A passionate artists always know what He talks about, a seasoned performer shares techniques in a way that other enthusiasts about his art would understand and eventually pick up ideas of the art.,,its not ego.
