I believe Chad might have influenced Donnie somewhat when they were filming JW4. It is about actions backed up by good story. You don’t fight for no reasons.

Donnie has always prioritized story and characters when creating the action scenes in his movies. It has nothing to do with him teaming up with Chad for JW4

@@kennethlui2268 Donnie has action directed movies for years though. Directing and action directing are no different from each other. Because action directors in Hong Kong oversee everything during the whole shooting process, including the story and the characters, so in order to align the action scenes with everything they also work through details in the script along with the main director. So basically, Donnie has co-directed several of his movies that way. Sakra is a different case for two reasons. The movie company (releases movies on streaming, it's cheaper and fast to produce) that financed the movie, and the source material the story is based on. The studio execs gave Donnie two month to shoot and edit the movie so there was alot of pressure to complete everything under such time constraints. Plus it's based on the famous Demi-Gods & Semi-Devils novel, which is RICH with characters. A single movie doesn't do the novel justice. At least the action scenes are great.
