When we lived in Knoxville in the 80s we went to Cades Cove at least twice a year - so beautiful! There were herds of deer in some of those fields, especially at dusk. If you parked at one of the churches (think it was the Baptist), walked over the hill, there was a large pond, fed by a waterfall. Shallow enough to wade. Refreshing on a hot day! Our daughter was young and alarmed when crawdaddies nipped at her toes! Sweet memories. Thank you!

Such a beautiful place, full of memories. We drove our children and our parents and family members through Cades Cove many times. My daughter and I learned the birds and the trees. Brown thrasher sings beside the creek at 6:38. Big white oak by the Rich Mtn. sign. They say that the chestnuts were 10' thick and 150' tall. I remember the Cable mill operating, and we bought some corn meal there. The lady who cut my hair for 40 years was a Tipton whose ancestors built that house at 16:50.

Definitely a to do list when or if you ever visit the Smoky Mountains. Many available cabin rentals, hotels and campgrounds are available. Do know if anyone decides to visit and camp take note that the Cades Cove campground near the entrance and exit area does not have running water for shower hook ups. Man lots of Memories of going to this area since 1973, I walked the 11 mile loop a few times, rode a bicycle a couple of times and jogged 8 miles of it when I was 12 years old. It never gets old going there, not to mention that many other things to do especially for kids in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg area the two main attraction areas of the Great Smokys

I've walked a lot of Cade's Cove, beautiful area. I took my sister there once, we slept in the truck but when dawn was breaking through the fog, i woke her to see a very large buck and his does feeding, I doubt she'll ever forget it. 7:53 looks like where we parked. And bear...a hundred or so of us parked and watched a dozen or more black bear feasting in the branches of some oaks, on the south end of the loop, I think. Question, those "wind rows" at the building peaks, were they for snow?

Cades Cove is about my most favorite spot in the Smokies. My family used to go in the Autumn to Gatlinburg and Pidgeons Forge. All of the tourist hoopla was all well and good, but I preferred getting out into the country and visiting the old mill and the nearby house. It felt like a homecoming for me in a way. I never say anyone sitting in the house -- alive anyhow that is. But I could feel a woman in the kitchen every time. She seemed to be working hard at something, and there was a feeling of someone upstairs too. None of this was in any way scary, just a feeling of perhaps memories moving in the house. Thank you for the lovely video. Peace and roses, Deb the TN Scary Lady

Beautiful! We were just there the week of Thanksgiving. At about 18:47 there is a double row of trees. I noticed it the day we were there. Oh...I didn't wait long enough...you posted it was an original road in the area...
