'He called me'. You know what's sad, of all the stories by Michael's friends, I never hear 'I called him'. He truly was alone.

My one major regret is that Michael Jackson and Donny Osmond never decided to record a duet together during the height of their 'dueling' popularity in the 70's. It would have been the biggest hit of all time !

I watched an interview in which Donny said they planned to do a cover of "I Wish: & even had gotten Stevie Wonder's blessing. It never came to pass because of all the frenzy following the accusations.

That story he tells abouot Michael's phone call and him not showing up has to be one of those moments when you wish you could have been there for him. Michael was so troubled his entire life. I felt so bad for him. I hope he finally has peace now.

As I’m watching this, not only am I so intrigued and so in awe, in the back of my mind I’m thinking “I already see the comments saying ‘Where you when Michael was being mauled by tabloids?’ or ‘If you were so close with him, then why didn’t you stand by him during his trial?’” To anyone who sees this, who thinks these things, let me tell you something, just because the public knew about Michael & Donny’s friendship doesn’t mean they have to make everything public. Even Donny said that despite the fact that the only time the public saw them together was at the AMAs in the 70s, they spent time together off camera. Even if they didn’t hang out as much during Michael’s final years, they seemed close enough that during dark times, Michael knew if he ever needed help from a friend, or needed someone to talk to or hang out with whenever wherever, Donny was one of them. You can still be close to someone and not see them all the time. If two people don’t see each other that much, but they know that they will be there for each other no matter what, that makes them just as close. As I’m writing this I started to cry. As an MJ fan, I feel even happier that Donny was such a good friend to Michael.

Doesn't seem fair! On top of it Donny is so handsome! I saw some drawings (maybe paintings too) that Michael Jackson did of Charlie Chaplin. They were amazing. All the natural talent blessed on one person. The rest of us try and work hard to be good at one thing! At the very least Michael and Donny seem to be nice people. Well in Michaels case seemed to have been a nice person. Both of them will have their talents live on.

In the entertainment world the Osmonds and the Jacksons graciously and respectfully shaped many youths to become a success in all aspects of society. I can't say the same thing for the entertainment role models of today. We need to return to the grace, charm, and respect for life that we saw in those day.

Black men will be compared. MJ & Prince were also pitted against each other. It’s a way to reduce MJ’s power. Now they put him against Beyoncé. It’s always women or POC. They never compare Beatles and Elvis.

@@globalcitizennoh yes they did; Beatles fans were going around wearing pins with “Elvis Is Dead” in them. This antagonism made Elvis reluctant to meet the Beatles but he finally did. Nobody knew then that Michael would be as big as he later became. The Osmonds and the Jackson 5 had media-created images as wholesome family acts. Young teenage fans could take their pick between the white, more country version and the black, soulful version, most chose to follow both. Yes, mags would often have silly contests like “Who’s Your Favorite, Donny or Michael?”, but teenage girls are rather silly. Even within the Jackson 5, teen fan magazines were asking readers who their favorite Jackson was. It was the nature of the beast.

Donny was like his brother from another mother to Michael they had so much in common and understands each other very well. Donny just wanted to help and talk to Michael just as much as Michael needed to lean on someone. I can't think of a more better person than Donny he was the perfect friend for Michael to fall back on they really know each other. Not to many friends you can just call up out of the blues and will ask you to go over to there place to stay there and relax for as long as you need to and still willing to talk to you about your problems especially after losing touch and not hearing from you for over a year it's like they literally picked up where they left off just like brothers. To me that kind of friendship is probably the strongest bond of brotherhood!

You shouldn't make statements like that with no proof. You are completely guessing as to why the Osmonds and Jacksons didn't have a reunion. Maybe it is because hateful fans would never accept it. They have to war over which group is better.

They were good and close friends, Donny was interviewed on Dr. Phil and said how close they were and even their moms had the same birthday. It was mostly they both had crazy tour schedules throughout the year they rarely had time to really visit each other but when they could they had lots of good talks. Michael Jackson told Donny that he was the only one who understood him and the pressures of performing in front of huge crowds. Besides, Donny Osmond is also a Christian and he never lies. I have always been a fan of his since I was a kid and I know how much he's an honest person and not like some of the performers who got into drugs or drinking to the point they have to go to rehab. Donny and his brothers were the good boys, clean cut and really talented! If he wasn't good friends with MJ, he wouldn't be talking about him and the talks they had and how much he still misses Michael Jackson.
