So basically: 1) Check engine light error which was not caused by anything... reset by dealer 2) A fork seal was leaking on a part not made by Aprilia and fixable under warranty 3) Supply chain issue which literally Every. Single. Company. Is having. 4) Third hand stories of isolated events (engine recall has fixed the majority of these and is no longer an issue) 5) Personal preferences Also, it's not jerky, but even if it was, it has a throttle response adjustment. Doesn't affect horsepower, it affects the mapping of the throttle to make it easier to apply... like in stop and go traffic. Also, a loose chain can cause jerkiness.

I've owned 15 bikes and test ridden many others (including the MT-09) and this is probably the best bike I have ever owned. Brilliant for road use, very hard to beat in terms of pure riding pleasure. They nearly all suffer from a squeaky rear brake for the first 1,000 ish kms, but it sorts itself out. Factory version with a few extra bhp and different gearing is even better. My verdict: buy one!

1) Engine check light - just calibration of crankshaft sensor, 5 minutes work in service 2) leaking fork, it is Kayaba, can happen to any KYB equipped bike 3) in low rpms absolute ok, fueling is smooth, I have no problem riding my 660 in low speeds and RPM, there is a switch, you can set MODE Commute and then throttle response is velvet smooth, in other modes it is up to your wrist-feel 4) quickshifter delay, all manufacturers have logistics problems nowadays, I ordered my Tuono with QS and they delivered it with it I think you bought wrong bike for your needs without proper test ride and longer decision making so I understand you try to find as many negatives as possible. My bike had only engine check light issue, they calibrated it during 1000 km first service and since then it is the most fun to ride bike I have ever ridden. Enjoy your Yamaha, I heard a lot of stories from my friends with Yamaha issues. ;-) Peace

Hi RSK. Thank you for your video. I’m a perfectly happy rider of a RS660 for 18 months, with no failure nor trouble at all ! I find this bike is great, especially in the small curves on hilly roads in my region(south of France). The shifter is astounding, handling easy, torque available at low RPM. You can ride it fast or quietly, rather confortable for a sportsbike. The only real drawback for me is the rear suspension : cheap, sluggish, unadjustable in hydraulic… this is the only part I changed quickly for a local manufacturer (EMC, France)… and now, I have my perfect bike !!!!

Hit the one year mark coming up on 6k with my 2021 Tuono 660. After a few months I found a little oil leak that was so small that if it were not for dust sticking to it, it would not have been seen. Fixed by the dealer in less than an hour and other than that the bike has been perfect. The Tuono 660 is a very comfortable bike with ample power. It handles very well and mine has been very dependable. Also, the dealership I work with has all the add-on parts you mentioned (IMU, Quick Shifter, even an exhaust with a tune) in stock. I do find it odd how you trash the bike and then admit you are not a fan of the Twin. Why did you buy a twin? Then you (at 3:16) say it's a jerky bike at low RPMs, like un-ridable, then you rant on and on. Then you say, but besides that, it handles great, it has great breaks, flickable etc. I also noticed the chicken strips are quite small on your bike. After listening to this video one would deduce that the problem with this particular bike is the squishy part on the top. Truth. You made a mistake in your purchase of the bike and made a video to trash the bike to convince yourself that the bike is so bad you are willing to take a loss to get a different bike. This was a very unnecessary video. Maybe you are married and are trying to get your wife to "allow" you to trade in the Aprilia for a different bike. A man just says well that is not what I wanted, that was a mistake, and he sucks up the loss, buys what he wants. I bought a Honda 650L and after about 6 moths I realized I don't like riding in the dirt. I bought my Aprilia and the Honda sat for months. Sold the Honda with less than a year of ownership and lost over $3K just to get it out of my garage. Some mistakes, Ya just suck it up.

Personally I think your comment makes you seem like u have the bike and hate anyone who talks bad about your precious little starter twin. The bike has 100hp and feels like a ninja 400 lmao. Besides all the other issues the 660 platform has. Thank you for Japanese bikes that actually are fun to ride as aggressively as you want with absolutely no worry of breakdown or “oil leak” my old mt09 was beaten on for 35,000 miles not 1 issues ever. It sounds like you shouldn’t have purchased this in the first place since “you don’t like twins”. You are looking for reasons to convince yourself to get back on the mt-09, which is fine, you should for sure own and ride exactly what YOU want. I just think telling people not to own something for the reasons you state just sounds like you a mad and bitter about something… As an owner of a Tuono 660 for 1 year, I can say this bike is legit. Yeah sure it’s not a platform that’s been available for that long, so things will pop up hear and there that need to get taken care of, but nothing out of the ordinary from any other brand new platform.

Coming from a 2021 MT10 (which sadly some bastards stole a few months back), i can wholeheartedly say that the tuono 660 was the smoothest commuter i have ever ridden. Even smoother than the MT10 i owned. Apart from some engines that were recalled and an oil nut issue, which was also recalled, this is so far one of the most reliable middleweights in the market. Sure you ve had bad luck and there is bad blood between you and the brand but bro there are very few bikes that match the character and pose of the 660, and all of them have a much higher pricetag. Sorry you had that experience. I cant wait to get the Tuono 660 Factory in a couple of months

I just test rode a Tuono 660. Only thing wrong with it was the front had a weird sound like crumpling aluminum foil when the engine was under load. I didn't find it jerky at all in commute mode (throttle mode 3). I did find it jerky in dynamic (throttle mode 2 & 1). The MT07/09 I had previously wasn't nearly as good with the suspension, comfort, brakes, or much of anything else. It did have a nice engine but prefer the 660's engine. Sorry you had a bad experience. It definitely leaves a bad taste and don't blame you for going a different direction. Hopefully the next bike is issue free as you'll need to switch again.

I was expecting a list of catastrophic issues in this video, but as far as I can tell the only real issue was an engine light that was reset by the dealer on your first service - very common on brand new bikes. The rest are just some 'horror stories' that you read somewhere on the web. Oh well if you just need an excuse to buy a 900cc, that's fine, but there is no reason to bash the Aprilia, which is a fantastic bike with top shelf components and a class leading engine. BTW, I have owned an MT-09 first series, and I sold it after two weeks. Hard to explain, but after the initial instant power excitement, you realise that this type of bike is kind of pointless - useless around corners due to pogo stick suspensions and dumb seating position. Only makes sense if you want to open the gas on a straigh road and pop up wheelies.

But anyway, it sucks you had problems with yours, and it’s even more of a pain when the dealers can’t fix the issues, I can see why you would want to trade it in , I did hear there were some issues , I’m just glad mine is ok so far . I'm thinking of trading in my 2018 MT09 and paying towards a new 2022 RS660. Have heard such mixed reviews and am pretty skeptical after your video. The wind load on my chest and neck when riding the MT is currently killing me. Was even thinking of paying the extra money for the RSV4 1100. I appreciate your review!

This is one of the best bikes in the market. All experts (non brand payed) love the character of the engine. It is a 2 cylinder! You can't compare with 3 or 4 cylinders. You didn't know what you were buying??? And a 2 cylinder engine (whatever brand) will give you the best punch from the bottom. Btw... Mt09 have one of the best engines....but suspension, brake and handling are a joke. And the 2022 design is a spooke! Yeah.. you didn't know the bike, you listen to many stories from others, the dealer isn't good to solve usual/small issues....and the problem is the bike? Bravo 👏👏

It has 3 engine mappings and if you choose the mapping 1 it's no fun to ride through the town at low speeds. But you can set it to "individual" where you choose the mapping, traction control, engine break, ABS and wheelie control, so no problem to set it to your liking 👍🏻 - after I did this, there is no problem around town at low speeds and low RPM. I’m also waiting on quick shifter and imu but supply issues are everywhere. One thing i did notice was a tiny oil drop on the drain plug when i was changing the oil. It was toruqed on pretty good so not sure why it had a drop. Oh yeah, haha i noticed a small amt of coolant coming from the water pump weep hole and the dealer said that is normal due to blah blah blah and would seal up which it did so no issue there. Squeaky back brake is going away and so far had no real issues with it. The chain started making noise, shortly after a good clean and lube. The rollers sound like there is no grease inside anymore. I have been riding in 30 degree c here and there and maybe it has shed some, although the o rings are all looking good. Cleaned and re lubed today, so see how I get on. The quick shifter down has caused me a few issues from 3rd to 2nd, but could be my technique needs improving, albeit ive made sure the throttle was shut before shifting. Being advised to ride with engine light on is unusual. Retired mechanic here and never heard of that.

Sorry the Tuono was a disappointment. I've watched many vids on the Tuono and all of them raved about it. They can't all be shills. I had an Aprilia scooter and it was well made. My buddy just bought a 2018 Shiver with 36k miles and it is perfect. He lives within walking distance of the Aprilia dealer where he bought it. I value handling above all else and the Tuono is thought to be a good handler. I rode the my buddy's Shiver and it handles fantastically. I like "small" bikes. My current bike is a Vitpilen 401.

Handles well but that’s all it has going for it… you found this video which means u KZbind tuono 660… you’re lying if ur saying this is a rare occurrence KZbin is littered with people sharing horrible experiences with this bike. It is 100% not just me there is way more videos on the Internet talking shit about this bike then praising it. Yes Moto Vloggers will rave about the bike because they are paid to rave about the bike. Do you think by companies would keep lending brand new motorcycles out to people to make contact with if they’re talking shit about the bikes????? Come on man

@@K-o-o-p-s Well, it doesn't seem to be that way in the comments of this video. The comments are mostly liking the 660.

1: you had a CEL which has been set off without effect on anything 2: you had a lemon fork which as been taken in guarantee 3: you’re making a big deal about the delivery delay of a damn QS that you don’t need (ever heard about clutchless shifting without quickshifters? That’s what we did for 35+ years) 4: all devices containing mechanical parts moving together from all brands suffers some early defects on some limited amount of products, still no big deal and carried by the guarantee I don’t see any real issues there, you just bought a bike that doesn’t fit your needs

Missing your old bike, having outlier issues that most people don't have and complaining that an crossplane 2 cylinder is rumbling (who would have thought) really aren't arguments to not recommend this bike in my opinion

@@K-o-o-p-s Around 100 horsepower is perfect for the street. Anything above that and you cant utilize the bikes full potential. I've ridden too many liter bikes on the street. Being bored and annoyed at the same time, because you can't use it. Being able to utilize a bikes full potential is a million times more fun. You should ride the new ZX4 if you get the chance. Truly eye opening. So satisfying

@@K-o-o-p-s Not everyone can be a good rider and unlock a bikes true potential. Overconfidence because the bike doesn't feel fast enough is what stops most immature riders from progressing. You will learn way more and way faster on a 'slow' bike. Thats a fact. The Tuono 660 is neither slow nore a beginner bike nore comparable to an sv650

Your dealer should have cleared that check engine light right away. Sounds like the don’t have priorities for the customers.

I agree, I recently found the same 660 back at the dealer a couple days ago. so in a year the bike has been sold 4 times and is back at the dealer I agree the dealer dropped the ball but Aprilia also did with this bike I think.

I was one of the first owners in the uk of a black RS 660. It was recalled for a full engine replacement. Due to a faulty cam shaft I think. Was annoyed as it needed running in again. But other than that's its mint. It's my 4th bike so only done 2k miles on it, in a year. But its not had any other issues
